EDIT: How many games is the rookie cut off? Kane has 62 games under his belt....
I believe it's 65 for HF prospect rankings. So basically, 3 games and he shouldn't be considered. Is he on that list?

Must be, or Ryan O'Reily could have would have made it but he has 70 games.

The list is a joke. How are Backlund and Kadri above Eberle, Paajarvi, Karlsson, and Sbisa?

You hadn't heard? Karlsson sucks compared to Gunnarson.

Well, now we know how the Oilers were ranked 21st by the collective geniuses at HF. I wonder what we'll rank after our 10 or 11 picks this summer? Hall will probably be below Kadri.

This is just brutal. Eberle at 14 and Paajarvai at 22 is almost laughable. THN's collaborative scout rankings had Eberle at 6 and Paajarvai at 11?

The biggest surprise for me is Karlsson at 23. That is just TERRIBLE. Gustavsson at 24? Are you kidding me?

Also, Backlund over Kane? WTF? This is just absolutely disgusting.

When we draft Hall or Seguin they better be in the top 5.If they aren't then it is obvious that the person that has made the list is very incompetent.

Hockey News (and no I am not saying they are the be and and all either) had him as the 6th best prospect not playing in the NHL.

I have to question the people making this list. Did they even watch Eberle play? How can Kadri be above Eberle. The pandering to leaf fans destroys the credibility of the list.

I wouldn't worry about it. They're pretty random.

Spring 2009(Spring 2010)
11. Colin Wilson(17)
12. Thomas Hickey(31)
13. James vanRiemsdyk(N/A)
14. Mikael Backlund(11)
15. Cory Schneider(32)
16. Jhonas Enroth(37)
17. Kevin Shattenkirk(N/A)
18. Ryan McDonagh(N/A)
19. Joe Colborne(28)
20. Lars Eller(N/A)
21. Erik Karlsson(23)
22. Jakub Kindl(39)
23. Eric Tangradi(30)
24. Chet Pickard(N/A)
25. Jon Blum(16)

Alzner went from like 5-7 to 26th in a year. What have these guys done to drop? Not completely dominate the AHL?

Less proven = Higher potential?

It really does seem like they just threw a bunch of names out there.

Well I don't know if it's about stats, but I thought they make compilation of all editors etc. scouting stuff and list is made based on those reports. Even Backlund is ahead Eberle, I wouldn't count it as a big factor as those are only directional lists and they are two different kind of players.

Who has seen these players play?
How can you rank players, or complain about the rankings of players that you have never seen?
Seriously?
2 pages of nothing but complaining by people with no foundation for an opinion.

Are the ranking garbage? I don't frieking know. I've seen Eberle play 4 games and most of the others on the list only one or two games. Hardly enough to create anything but a list based on wild guesses.

*Waits for the inevitable "I've seen every single CHL and international game in the past 3 years" post*

If Kane is on the list I'd assume tavares, hedman, Duchene and Myers are on the list and are probably higher then Hodgson.

Sidenote as I am looking at stats, I'm wondering if Colorado is wondering if they rushed O'Reilly. I noticed his offense has slipped quite bit, although he is play the PK and such so maybe it's not that bad.

I am surprised to see the amount of *****ing from what is supposed to be an intelligent fan base. Let's out of 700 NHLers pick two players that are similar...in a few ways.

Derek Roy (19-36-55 +4) 26 years old
Steven Weiss (25-29-54 -6) 26 years old.

Let's say for one brief moment in my NHL rankings I have Weiss three or four spots higher in my top 50 NHLers.

Would someone come on here and call my rankings a complete joke?

As a body of work a top 50 list is the best group of young players that have proven/projected to be the cream of the crop. Just like mock drafts, draft lists? Where was everyone 6 years ago when Tyler Bozak went undrafted? Personally I had never heard of him until Toronto signed him.

The utter and blatant bashing of any group of people for a body of work that is pretty subjective and done with the best of intentions shows how self conscious this fan base has become.

Do players develop at different rates? Is it possible that Kadri in 6-8 years is a better player than Eberle? You damn straight it could happen. Just as much as the other way.

It disappoints me to see such smart hockey fans look so silly in a thread like this.
