Team Canada World Championship roster (any Oilers?)

What Oilers do you think have a shot at the roster next month?

I know not many care about the tournament but I like seeing Canada win as much as they can in any interntaional tournament.

As long as Getzlaf, Nash and Perry go, I'll root for Team Canada.

Penner will be there.. whitney for the US, gilbert is a slight possiblity for the US, and i would like team canada to send an invite to gagner just for confidence because he's definately talented enough. Thats it though... Fairly weak but the glory days just around the corner.

I would like to see..

CANADA - Penner, Gagner (would be great if they took a whole line with Brule too)

USA - Whitney, Gilbert (why wouldn't they take them as a pair), outside chance for O'Sullivan

CZECH - Smid

SWEDEN - outside chance for Nilsson

Any chance any of our prospects make their national teams?

CANADA - there was talk of Emberly but I doubt it.

SWEDEN - OMARK for sure, MPS I doubt it.

CZECH - Jagr and Cervenka

Could see Eberle on the taxi squad like Gagner a few years back.

Penner would be the first Oiler on Messier's speed dial.

Penner-Getzlaf-Perry
Nash-Stamkos-St Louis

I doubt Vinny accepts...same with Richards...
3rd/4th lines will be filled with gritty guys. I wouldn't mind seeing Glencross on the 4th line.

Its already been confirmed Eberle is getting a look. A couple names I stumbled upon this morning in a article is Brule and Gagner hoping they get picked.

It will be loaded with Oilers. I don't think Getzlaf will go, to rough of a season injury wise, and you might not see that many olympians as they'll want to rest.

Penner Gagner Brule
Tavares Stamkos Eberle
Horton Weiss St. Louis
Neal Horcoff Benn

I hope you're not serious about Horcoff. Messier is picking the team not Mactavish.

That looks like a weak team up front especially since Gagner, Brule, Tavares, Benn are still strugglig to make an impact in the NHL. I doubt Messier & co. will pick all the young kids first. BTW, Nathan Horton has been pretty much blacklisted by Hockey Canada. Corey Perry might go if asked since he's never played at the world championship and I'm sure he'd want to add a possible gold medal this to his medal collection. Rick Nash would probably be there and same with Eric Staal. Guys like Mike Cammalleri, Mike Richards, Jason Spezza, Derek Roy, Travis Zajac might be available if they get knocked out of the 1st round too. These guys would definitely be priorities over the kids.

I'd love to see Jordan Eberle there. He deserves it. He saved Canada from being eliminated by the Russians and almost single-handedly carried his team to victory again this year.

Hockey Canada invited him to the world championship a few years ago and he refused without any good reason. I think they took this as disrespect to the national program and they remember these things. Also, he never played at the world juniors since he made the NHL at a young age so he virtually has no international experience.

Well that pretty much tells me Horcoff if healthy makes the team.

For the lazy ones, the link says MacT to coach the team.

MacT is head coach so Horcoff is a lock and Penner doesn't have a chance.

He's probably sending Reasoner a million texts asking him to get his Canadian citizenship as we speak.

A. He won't have you in the stands at any of the games...
B. Not making 7 mill to play = no pressure
C. MacT is going to be the Coach!

A. That is the Moose's type

I don't really see Benn making the squad, but you know that Getzlaf and Perry and Nash and Staal won't want to go, they'll want a break, maybe 1 of them or 1 of the olympians that will have been elminated will opt to go.

I would assume so.

Reddox - Horcoff - Stortini
Moreau - Reasoner - Pisani

Rick Nash will be on the 3rd line
