Yes, our team needed to make lineup changes but, this furthers my belief that T.M. has no idea how to get this team out of a slump. I mean, Mitchell with Joe and Clowe will kill those two in any effective way thus will Manny up with P. & P. It should have been the likes of McGinn up with one of those lines and leave Mitchell back on the 4th. McGinn gives so much more than Mitchell. A solid 4th line of Manny, Ort and Mitchell would have been really good checking line and Staubitz dropped for the likes of Ferriero or Vesce etc to be moved into one of the spots in the top three lines. The third line looks like a really good change. That's the kind of change we're talking about; offensive capabilities with the similar like.

We need a graphic of TM just pulling names out of a hat instead of the Ron Wilson Spin of Fail
He's reaching for anything to click.

Manny worked well with Pavs and Seto, he'll work fine with Marleau and Pavs. I suppose I can understand McGinn might work better than Mitchell, but it's not like either has shown any knack for dominating on the score sheet, and in theory Mitchell adds more speed to that line.

Add-on to my last post:

Staubitz takes two idiotic penalties...most likely interference.

I'm REALLY digging the Heatley-Couture-Setoguchi line.

Though I think Marleau should be in place of Heatley.

With the way they have played lately, a part of me almost wishes DirecTV was still in the dispute with Versus.

Perhaps a national TV game will wake them up.....doubt it.

Not like any player has been playing their game lately... but the Clowe-Thornton-Mitchell line may be the most ill conceived line in the NHL at the moment.

This line will be caught in a continuous cycle on the perimeter, then turn it over up high. The Minnesota defense won't know what to do.. maybe re-tape their sticks and have a conversation with Backstrom as he takes a drink of water?

The choice to put mitchell on the top line is a little strange. Maybe just trying to get him going and get some speed up there. A week ago I would have complained about clowe being up there with Thornton but he has been one of the few guys putting out consistent effort, so I am okay with it. Maybe he can get Thornton to start paying attention.

Plus like everyone else said...these combos probably only last till 10 minutes in after the 2nd Wild goal.

Agreed on all points. I'm just ripping on the Sharks cause it makes me feel better at the moment. And sure the lines won't last, but I think it's one of the few insights we get into what the coaches are thinking.

Those lines look kind of out of order to me:

Heatley-Couture-Setoguch

Malhotra-Marleau-Pavelski

Clowe-Thornton-Mitchell

McGinn-Ortmeyer-Staubitz

So essentially, Thornton demoted to the 3rd line

Good.
