Not sure where he would fit in the world of Stalberg, Caputi, D'Amigo potentially in 2011 and Kulemin on the LW along with Kadri, Bozak, Grabovski, DiDomenico, Mitchell and Hanson at center, but yeah, may as well give it a shot.

not even sure hanson and mitchell could be regulars on a successful team, let alone the other prospects you have mentioned...

obviously a prospect or two could surprise at camp like stalberg did...but you're really reaching here. the fact is we have tons of room in our lineup if it means getting better.

i'm sure burke would have absolutely no trouble starting caputi, stalberg and hanson all in the marlies if it means a better chance of winning.

not saying it will happen....but i wouldn't be surprised.

Yvan Cournoyer did ok for himself at 5'7.

I don't think you should count the guy out based on size. A player like him could possibly dominate the new NHL with anti-obstruction and now with an eye on headshots.

A PP and shootout specialist isn't such a bad idea if he turns out to be a defensive liability.

I think he's one of those small guys that actually can succeed based on his skills and smarts alone. Worst case scenario he boosts the powerplay for the Marlies for a year. Best case scenario we have our own Martin St.Louis/Jiri Hudler/Pat Kane hobbit wizard.

Of course if they already know they have no shot at PM (we speculate but they would have a pretty good idea) then I agree why not?

Really small guys usually don't work but there are a certain amount who's size simply isn't a factor and you don't know who they are until they start playing here. This guy has way more offense than Brunnstrom. For those making Wallin references Rickard never improved from age 21 to age 28 in the SEL and again was offensively a tier below this dwarf. Still a gamble but I don't see him as a Marlie. Worst case is he steals Wallin's spot

Well there have been some shorties to make the league and have a real impact. Theoron Fleury, Martin St Louis, Danny Briere all come to mind..

Oh and how could I forget Borschevsky! ?

I would love this addition.

You can never have enough skill. We already have enough size, but NEEDDDDD more skill.

I'll say this slowly. We.Are.Not.Getting.Marleau. And if we did sign three undrafted kids not all of them would be in the NHL at the same time. And since we're not signing Marleau we'll have plenty of cap space to sign them.

I like MZA.

Having said that, he is a bit undersized. In the SEL he has more time and space than he will have in the NHL. He did well in the Olympics, so his skillset should be fine on the smaller rink, but my concern is for how long he would stay healthy.

The night to night abuse he would see in an 82 game NHL season with that small of frame must be a concern, me thinketh.

Now, if he is surrounded by some speed and muscle to take some heat off of him and allow him to focus on finishing, I can see him be quite succesful (25-30 goals).

Then the question is if that is what the Leafs really need at this point?

I wouldn't mind signing Patrick Thoresen also... he played well and showed a lot of heart at the olympics.

What kind of numbers did he put up at the Olympics? Did he standout at all?

He played for NORWAY, and we're talking about him at length.

Edit: Olympic stats:

That's not bad consider he was probably playing alongside the equivalent of the Canadian woman's team.

Yesterday I heard Dreger and McKenzie on AM640 pregame show say, that the Leafs have very little interest in MZA, they are looking at him as a depth player that will play for the Marlies. They also mention that they have more interest in Roman Cervenka, then they do MZA. but for the same reasons. But didn't Burke say in a interview last saturday on leafs lunch that he doesn't know who Roman Cervenka is ?? hmm..
