i thought it was common knowledge by now that COD 7 was going to be in vietnam but the talk of the CIA inside the Iron Curtain is interesting. Could be a Hybric of Vietnam and the Cold War??
That would actually be a really cool game if they can take it outside of just Vietnam and put you in the Eastern Block/Berlin/Soviet places. The storylines are fictional so they can really have some fun with this one I think.
Uhh I'm pretty sure they just left, they didn't lose.
They were there for like 20 years, suffered heavy casualties, couldn't manage to defeat their opposition and once they left the entire country very quickly fell into communism. And that's exactly what they were supposed to prevent.
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Vietnam was considered a loss for the U.S.
Also kind off silly that a Vietnam game would go with the name Call of Duty, the war was nothing but power politics.
Yes. COD6 is technically Modern Warfare 2. They are supposed to be doing every other with the developer. However, Game Informer reported in this months magazine that IW is being pimped out along with Assassins Creed developers to put out a game biannually now.....whether or not that has any truth outside of what they were reporting, no clue. Especially with the huge fallout they just had as well.

2 year development cycle is pretty normal. It's a surprise to get a game earlier than 2 years... it's a disappointment to wait 3 or more.
And as for the Assassin's Creed devs, that's Ubisoft Montreal, one of the most prolific, well-staffed, and well-endowed studios in the world. They have the resources to work on two AAA titles a year, in addition to smaller titles. Consider this one development studio has no less than 5 big name IPs. Blizzard can't even say that.
If not for the weapon balance issues (the MP40 was ridiculous) I think World At War is a vastly superior game to MW2. Much better maps, no insane kill streak rewards causing major camping which led to players actually trying to play for the objective in objective based games (a concept IW missed out on).
I liked the WAW maps because you could use a different strategy on each map. Some maps you could run and gun, some were more stealth, some for snipe etc. In MW2 it is plagued by knifers and campers. Running and gunning (my preferred playing style) gets you destroyed in MW2, probably why I tend to bash the game whenever I can...LOL!
Seriously though, we have a game where every player has access to the Worlds best optics and weapons and it gets, at times, dominated by people able to run fast and have a knife. I'm not gong off on knifers, they are taken care of by the grossly overpowered shotgun but nothing pisses me off more then being on a kill streak and seeing some guy run around a corner, putting 4 rounds in him as he is coming at me and dieing.
If they get the matchmaking right (not hard to beat IW on this front), balance the weapons right (both companies have real issues with this), have good servers, and have good perks (get rid of the damn knife perks) and go back to reasonable numbers of kill streak rewards the game could be fantastic.
I hope there are no vehicles in this one. The ones in WaW were not done very well even compared to IW. The tank level was absolutely ridiculous. The bomber mission was not much better. After the snowmobile stage of MW2 I sincerly hope there is no more vehicles in this franchise.
