Just wanted to know what the story is with Emerson Etem. In his rookie year I thought he was the best Duck in the playoff series against us. He looked dangerous all the time, killed penalties, good shot, lightning fast, etc.
I was pretty sure that he was going to be a very good player and at worst a dangerous 2-way 2nd liner. Since then he seems to have gone backwards. Why?
Are you guys confident that he's going to bounce back or are you worried that he's just a ten-a-penny type player?
Or am I wrong? I am mainly going by stats here as I don't see much of the Ducks these days. Is he playing an important role (on a team that sits top of the table atm) on the team without contributing much in the way of points??
Very curious to know exactly what the story is with him.
He struggles with consistency and tunnel vision. He's still very young. You should caution yourself against expecting too much immediately after a good playoff series.
yeah, that's true. 7 games hardly shows how you're going to be for the rest of your career. but in his case it just looked like he had all the tools, and whilst it is foolish to expect too much, i'd imagine that even the most pessimistic of fans would have foreseen more in the way of progress from him than has seemingly occurred.
When our forwards get healthy, a third line of Cogs-Karlsson-Etem might be a very intriguing 3rd line. This line can fly and forecheck, has some skill and are defensively responsible. It has to be one of the fastest lines in the NHL.
