Heard this last night, checked around a little, didn’t find any evidence that it’s true: Glen Sather will retire after this season.
The source claims to have knowledge of this, from a better source. I’m not sure if I believe it, and I’m certainly not sure Sather would be sharing such info with some people, and not with the people I asked. So I’m very skeptical.
Obviously, he says he is skeptical, but I thought it was worth posting. I'm sure it would be dream for a lot of us. I doubt it will happen though.
Not the first time this is rumored this season. Probably the first time on the Rangers side tho. In all honesty this wouldn't be a surprise, that's a more likely scenario than to see him fired. On the other hand, I don't bite too much into it, or as mentioned above, I'll believe it when I see it. Especially when Carp says he's heard it form a guy who heard it from a guy, and write that below what the OP has posted:
Aah, the beauty of a blog. You can just throw crap like this out there. It would never fly in the newspaper. But if it comes true, remember where you read it first.
Guess Rick needed a boost in hits for his page since he has done a terrible job taking over from Sam.
This will never happen.
Rick has been put in a tough position by The Journal News. He was given this assignment on top, not in lieu, of his main responsibilities and is forced to cover the Rangers from a distance while he travels around the state covering high school sports.
In addition, with the economy being the way it's been, The Journal News has cut back funding which means they won't pay to let him travel with the team on the road like Sam was able to.
Rick works hard and puts a lot of overtime to cover the blog while not getting paid extra for it. Getting on him is a little unfair.
Well, to be fair, Rick "covers" the Rangers here and there. He's certainly not a beat writer/reporter like Zipay and Gross and has said so on many, many, many occasions for anyone that's following that blog. IIRC, Sam left and LoHud no longer really covered the Rangers with a dedicated reporter and Rick kept the blog going as a service to the people who post there.
It's good for some opinions and a few laughs. Not much else.
