Your First Gaming Experience

Thread inspired by this Kotaku post: http://kotaku.com/5501939/who-rememb...ing-experience

So do you guys remember your first video game experience?

I sure do, Gyruss for the Commodore 64

A lot like Galaga, but with a different point of view, awesome game from my memory although i'm sure if I played it today, i'd probably hate it. As is the case with most old games that I love to remember for nostalgia reasons.

I can't remember...something on the NES. I'm gonna guess Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt.

Something on Atari way back in 1988'ish or so? I remember playing some hockey game where you controller a stick figure or something.

I think this is it.

Amazing how far we've come isn't in?

i think the first arcade game i remember playing was Space Invaders. i was so young and small that i remember my father had to hold me up to reach the controls.

i remember playing some kind of Shark Attack arcade game back then, too. i think it's actually shown for a second in the original Jaws movie trailer.

my first game console was Colecovision ...

and that was followed by the NES.

Heh.

I cant remember the first game, but the Sega Master System was my first console. Space Harrier, Black Belt, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, or Fantasy Zone.. one of those must have been the first game i played.

Prolly Commodore 64 - Winter and California Games, etc.

Also played a Privateer game called Kaptajn Kaper. CGA graphics!

"Graduated" to Block Out, Lemmings, Test Drive, The Incredible Machine and such.

Only got my first "proper" gaming compy in 99 or so, though. My very first PC was the family IBM: 386SX, 20 MHz, 2 mb of ram and 40 mb hdd.

This is the first game I remember playing:

Also other Atari classic's like Pole Position.

Then we bought a NES. And the first game I truly got immersed in.

I still remember having to wait for my oldest brother to finish Final Fantasy, then my next brother to finish it, before I finally got to play that game. The wonders of being the youngest. I definitely do not miss games that only one file can be saved on it.

Still the best football franchise ever!!! They're actually remaking it on PSN and XBox Live soon for ~$15.

I'm not sure of my first for console. Probably SMB/Duck Hunt but I might have played some 2600 games before I could remember.

First for PC was definitely Doom which is kind of funny since I was like 5 at the time.

Something on the commodore 64.. I think it was a game where you played as donald duck and did tasks to get toys or something like that.. sometimes during the 80s atleast.

On the nes it was probably Super Mario and on pc... probably Minesweeper ^^

I think that's mine too; got my NES w/Power Pad in Christmas 1988, but I may have played SMB before that, or played a friend's Atari 7800 or or another friend's SMS.

Sort of wish I still had my NES - it was a bit beat up, as the top vent was missing a piece where I smashed my NES Advantage into it. and blowing in the carts wasn't that fun, but there's something nostalgic about that time.
