Actually now that I think about it again my first game was probably Maniac Mansion. Or Carmen Sandiego.

I remember with my old NES, it would only work if you punched it a few times, then stacked a game cartridge on top of the other one inside the NES itself.
Haha yeah, after a bad game I'd pop up the cartridge by smacking the top of the system. But I was more of a controller abuser than anything, my 4 snes/nes controllers had to be replaced due to extensive damage, luckily my wife had 2 nes controllers in good shape and you can still get new snes controllers.

My first memorable experience was playing Final Fantasy 1 for NES with my brother at like 6am on weekends. Great times.

I would imagine that my first real gaming experience had to have been an arcade game, probably Asteroids, Donkey Kong or Pac-Man. If we're talking about in-home games, then it would've had to have been on my Commodore Vic 20, probably Choplifter, Omega Race or Miner 2049er. I don't remember which I had first, but those are the three that I played the most. My Saturdays for years consisted of Saturday morning cartoons, soccer games, then playing those three games until dinnertime.

Miner 2049er (Vic 20):

Hmm, that's sure a lot prettier than what I had on the black-and-white TV in my room.

16-color EGA, you lucky dog! I played that game exclusively in 4-color CGA (and I'm convinced that 2 of those colors were black and white and that they didn't even bother adding a 4th color after red).

Christmas of Kindergarten.

I got a Nintendo 64 w/ Blast Corps and Mario Kart 64. As well as a GameBoy Colour with Pokemon Red and Blue.

Blast Corps was the first game I played.

Breakout on a Commodore 16. Screw cartridges and disks. This badboy used cassette tapes.

Ugh... I hated loading games on tapes on the Atari 800! The best games were on tape, but they easily took 15 or 20 minutes to load if not longer, they often failed to load properly, and the tapes wore out, leaving you with nothing.

Hehe, that reminds me of playing games on the TRS-80 (Trash80). Anything decent was on tape and they took a long time and often failed. The only game I really remember from that was Pike's Peak.

I had that and F15 SEII back in the mid 90's, bought in a bargain bin. For the longest time I couldn't run it on my 486 because I lacked drivers so it sat on my shelf. Once I actually learned what I was doing on the computer the first thing I did was install the game. Hours of fun.

Console: Probably Blades of Steel and Punch-Out (a.k.a. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out) for the NES in the early 90's. I remember I could never beat Tyson though.

PC: I remember playing Doom the year it came out (I was 5 in 1993), as well as playing Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders and other games made by LucasArts (known at the time as Lucasfilm Games) that used what was called the SCUMM gaming engine. I also played the hell out of all of the Duke Nukem games and at one point I had with boxed set which contained the origanal cartoony Duke Nukem, Duke Nukem II, Duke Nukem 3D, and all of the other expansion packs. I believe it was called "The Duke Nukem 3D: Kill A Ton Collection." All these years later I wish I still had that.
