My firstborn, on the other hand, refused to make his entrance until my wife had been in labour for close to 50 hours. Based on watching that, and assuming the pain of kidney stones is similar, I don't EVER want a kidney stone.
Oh poor women.
I know we all say we forget the pain but that is really something we only tell our loved ones to make them feel better.
I wouldn't force that pain on anyone for something like a Kidney Stone.

If you can't handle the pain and are going to complain to everyone then you really should take the drugs.
Honestly I have no problem talking about it, but one of my friends for some reason likes to bring that pain up all the time. Like my buddy that broke is ankle, he was telling us about it and all of sudden it's back to birth pains.
That card should only be able to be played once maybe twice, per kid towards an individual.
Not directed at you or anyone on this board, but it's something I get to look forward to everytime I see the individual.
I find it funny that everybody keeps saying "Ohhh ****! We're cursed! Ahhhh!!! I'm so ****ing scared because now we'll never win again!!!!!!" For real, I find it so damn funny...and I ask again...who trains these guys? The Conditioning and Nutrition? WHO TRAINS THESE GUYS????
On the poor women part, I tip my hat to what you have to go through the 9 or so months before the actual delivery. Didn't realize all the things you have to do and can't do.

I answered this the other day, Simon Bennett is the fitness consultant. He just joined this year. Some of the guys have programs with Chad Moreau on the side or during the off-season.

I hate women like that! It seems like everybody knows at least one women that considers it a badge of honour and something to be mentioned whenever any ouch is mentioned.

I'd honestly like to drug those women and take them to get their tubes tied so I don't have to hear how the second one hurt so much more or god forbid she ever have multiple kids at one birth.

Most women consider the "badge of honour" to be little Johnny or Sue.
BUT like a good hypochondriac you can't change those types of women!
Okay there Debbie Downer. Calm down. Guys have hip surgery all the time its no big deal.
Which kind of hip surgery. Is there more than just hip replacement surgery?

Gagner sat out a game or two earlier with a bad hip. I want to say November? Unless they come out and say it's the opposite side, I'd assume it's the same injury, even if it got "better" and wasn't hurting him for a while.
I'd also assume his sore knee is connected. Either it's the same side/leg, or possibly from over-correcting, so to speak, to compensate for the hip.
I dunno. Find a good physio and make sure you're doing the right strength training this summer, Sammy.
Sucks, though. I really did want to see him at the World Championships.
He missed a game on November 16 with a hip injury. He missed 4 games prior to the Olympics with a knee injury.
Very nice post HA. You explained everything perfectly with what happened to our season and made a perfect comparison with another team. Some people don't realize that. I also agree that it is freaky because its been happening now for the better part of the last four seasons.
This season is the worst in terms of injury. The other three seasons, the Oilers never led the NHL in man-games lost like this season.
So the fact that it was brought up that his knee was giving him problems and that is why he was getting less time meant nothing?
The logic I don't understand and haven't understood was if he had to be on the 4th line why not just sit him anyways?
Now the question is the knee that bother him the same side as the hip? Because if it is and the two are related, then once again our staff was wrong about the injury causing further damage.
The knee and hip are connected. My mom's knee was bothering here and it ended up that she needed hip replacement surgery. Now she's fine and has no problems with the knee.

No, but that doesn't mean injuries didn't plague this team for the better part of four seasons. You don't have to lead the NHL in man games lost to be considered it to be problematic like this season.
This is insane, were pretty much guaranteed to break the 500 man games lost to injury now...and were over a 100 man games lost more then 2nd place Detroit.
Im not sure what the record is but I believe it was somewhere in the high 300's if I remember correctly.
Damn straight. Passed two of the ******** last week. Not fun. At all. It's hereditary in my family. I'm on a low sodium diet for high blood pressure, so I can attest to what you're saying.
I'm told making a tea of boiled parsley helps. I've had kidney pains, I never get it checked out so I don't know if they are stones or not, but when I get the pains I boil some parsley and drink the water.
Is it true that Gagner has Kidney Stones? Do they affect the hip and knee? Why wasn't this reported in the media. Somebody should fire the Kidney Stone doctor that works for the Oilers!!

Yes, of course; but it obviously depends on the problem. Like a knee or shoulder (etc.), it can be 'scoped' for bone or cartilage fragmants usually resulting from impact injuries, but not always. Like the talk about kidney stones, bad hips/joints can be hereditary. Maybe his mother's side suffers from bad hips/joints? I sure as hell hope not.

He is only out day to day according to the reports but we all know the Oilers are not always completely forthcoming when it comes to injury reports.
Are they really genetic? I didn't know that..... My dad and grandfather had them, that's the only time i ever heard my dad scream in pain, when he had to pass kidney stones.....That's probably one of the last non-life threatening things that i ever want to experience.
My grandfather had them, his uncle had them, my uncle had them, and my female cousin has had them, and yes I also am one lucky fella because I've had an attack and I still have a lot more in my kidneys.

Fun facts about kidney stones: They affect primarily men and are supposedly the worst natural pain a person can experience. Something to remember next time your wives/girlfriends bring up child birth
I have yet to ask my female cousin which is worse, I will eventually just to see. She has had a few different attacks and has also given birth to two boys.

I have never had one, but my sister did. She said it was AS painful as child birth.
My female cousin has had them, you are right, it's not nearly as common for women but they can and do get them.

That really blows, I passed one after I went to the hospital a number of years ago. They gave me anti nausea meds and I believe something that loosens the "tubes".

Never heard this before, the stones don't get stuck beyond the bladder, it's between the kidney and the bladder that they get lodged in. Not sure how that part of the anatomy would be much different between women and men?

It is not fun by any stretch, when I got my first attack I woke up at about 3AM and I didn't feel better by 7AM so I went to the hospital not knowing wtf was going on. Luckily I passed it a few hours later.

My sister took two days to pass hers. It was very painful. My aunt also had one.
They seem to run in our family. So far I have missed out.
Again, first I've ever heard of this.

It is disgusting, but it helps every time.
I know that I've heard that a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice may help, I've got to start on that to see.
I had a UTI. That was the most pain I've ever been in.
I get like 5 bladder infections a year...sometimes more.
When I get them, I end up in the ER because I can't wait to see a dr in the clinic. I get hot/cold flashes, nauseous, dizzy, light headed, really bad sharp pains (they get so bad that I can't walk, sit, stand, or lay down), fevers, loss of appetite and when I do eat I just puke it up, and the list goes on.

That's odd that you get them so much, do you drink Cranberry juice? I hear that it's supposed to help prevent them.

Well, I have a super huge bladder. And an extra piece of kidney. So I'm prone to them.
I am supposed to see some dr about it, to see why I get them so much. I had one per month for about 3 months in a row. But I blame that on stupid dr's. One gave me 5 days worth of anti-biotics and told me to go do a follow up apt after I finished. I did, and there was still a bit of an infection and instead of giving me another day or 2's worth of meds he sent me home because all he ever does is give 5 days worth.
So then, a month later or less I was in the ER again in so much pain I could not move. Next dr gives me only 3 days worth of anti-biotics.
Next month, I get 7 days worth...but after having the same stuff twice in a row with not enough of a dose both times, it didn't really work as good as it should have.
Cranberry juice helps, I was told so does straight lemon juice.

Man that is brutal, then they wonder why there are so many antibiotic resistant infections out there
