3/26/10 - Minnesota @ Detroit - 6:30 PM CDT - FSN NORTH (HD)

I figured I could start a GDT.

Our Minnesota Wild battle the Detroit Red Wings this evening at the Joe at 6:30 PM, and it's even in HD!

Barker will be out tonight, Falk will play in his place.

Koivu is also out again, we'll probably see a lot of different line combos like we saw last night, but I'm most looking forward to seeing Wellman play between Lats and Havlat.

Last and not least, Cody Almond was re-assigned this morning to Houston.

Ya, this game won't go as "amazing" as Philly was I fear. Plus Harding is in net so we'll see if he can not get outdeked by Dats again:

We're horrible against Detroit, and they decided to get on a roll here. I think we'll get rocked like we did a couple of weeks ago, I think it was 5-2.

Back in January, when the Wild were good and Detroit was hurting, the Wild beat them 5-2 and lost in a shootout 4-3 in a game they were losing 3-1 in the 3rd. You never know.

Although Detroit looks like their old selves since they got healthy. 9-2-1 in March vs. 6-5-2 for the Wild.

I suppose so, I sure didn't think we would come back and win last night, but I just don't feel good when Koivu isn't in the lineup. He's easily my favorite player, but Lats is really growing on me.

I only wish I could watch it, I'm going to be stuck at work.

To be fair, Zetterberg tried the Forsberg on Harding in the shootout in that game where Belanger tied it in Detroit with like 5 seconds left, and Harding stoned him good.

I had to work last night and was able to discreetly find a stream to watch on my iPod.

Problem is, I work retail so I can pretty much watch tweets and that's about it.

Here we go - i just bet 100 in vcash that the Wild win tonight. Call me mad, call me 100 vcash poorer, but I smell let up on the part of the Wings tonight.

Getting to know your opponent: Detroit Red Wings Edition
-The Detroit Red Wings were founded in May 1926 as the Detroit Cougars.

-Like to believe their starting goaltender reads the GDT and will find his birthday wishes.

-Detroit has a population of approximately 912,000 people, down from 1.8 million in 1950.

-Love Claude Lemieux.

-The name and logo come from James Norris, who bought the team in 1932.

-Are PC and believe Nashville is a tougher opponent.

-Played a series of games with Montreal in Europe in 1938.

-Like booze and beer.

-Have worn the same jersey since 1932 and never had a third jersey outside of last year's Winter Classic. Oh and this one...

-Are evil (at least in terms of laughing)

-Apparently there is a pro wrestling tag team named the Motor City Machineguns. I found this one out while googling Motor City.

-One of their posters is a goalie.

-Had some guy named Gordie Howe twenty years before he made his mark in the WHA.

-Live in the past and post videos of former Wild and Red Wings greats.

-Continue to throw octopi onto the ice rather than genetically mutate a creature with sixteen legs. John Madden, I'm looking at you.

Guilty as charged!!! But to be fair, I didn't say Nashville was a tougher opponent, but since you guys are missing your best forward and Barker, I think you're at a disadvantage. Plus you're not ahead of the Wings in the standings so I think the Nashville game is a bit more important because it's essentially a 4 pt. game.

But if you win, that should make it a sweeter victory because you did it without your captain/best player + Barker, that G.D. weasel...sorry, that Blackhawk stench hasn't worn off of him yet.

It's okay, I know people who still hate the Black Hawks even though the rivalry was one team and a division name change ago.

Just got the game on and saw Detroit celebrating a goal. That has to be a good sign.

With that said, 0-0 game. Schultz took the net off its moorings and because of that drew a penalty and negated the goal.

Nolan shot on net, Howard does a good job to take away the angle.
