Overview
Extra Information Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves will return to the lineup tonight against the Minnesota Wild at Joe Louis Arena (7:30, FSN). He had missed three games with a sore neck and back.
Eaves will replace defenseman Derek Meech, who had been moved up to forward. That is the only change from the last game.
The Red Wings kept their penalty-killing streak intact without Eaves, one of their top forwards on the PK. They have not allowed a power-play goal in 10 consecutive games and have killed their opponents' last 27 power-play chances, dating back to March 3 vs. Vancouver.
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard was on high alert today, his 26th birthday, anticipating the usual shenanigans from teammate Kris Draper.
But Draper is the master of the shaving cream pie in the face, and teammates are helpless to prevent it, even when they know it's coming. Howard became Draper's latest victim while sitting at his dressing room stall after the morning skate.
“I was drinking my Gatorade and I saw him coming out of the corner of my eye and didn’t have time to react,'' Howard said.
Even goaltenders aren't off-limits for Draper. At least it beats getting a face wash at the end of a loss, as Sidney Crosby can attest to.
“This was his first time around here, I had never gotten him before,'' Draper said. "He was just sitting there, he thought he was looking pretty, and the opportunity was there, so I had to take advantage of it.’’
Said Howard: “It’s all right, it’s all fun and games. “He’ll get his someday. I’ll keep that in the back of my head.’’ Draper said captain Nicklas Lidstrom is the only person off-limits for this birthday ritual. “I think I’ve pretty well gotten everyone else,'' Draper said.
He also has been on the receiving end, but not on his birthday. “After my 1,000th game (last season), Malts (Kirk Maltby) got me pretty good,'' Draper said.

Happy Birthday Jimmy! (thanks for face-washing Crybaby, that was excellent
)
Let's get a win for him guys, that would just make this perfect. If we win tonight, that gives us 6 point advantage over Calgary and tied for 7th with the Avs (hopefully Phoenix can win in regulation and stop it with these 3 point games which are killing us). Koivu injured doesn't hurt us too much either. Let's try and not make Harding look like a Vezina candidate either :p.
Good luck Red Wings!

I think this is a game that Osgood should be starting. This is the first of back-to-back games and the Wild have a couple big injuries.
I know every point is important and the consensus with...basically everyone, is that Howard gives us the best chance to win, but I think it's stupid to overwork Howard when the Nashville game tomorrow is so important.

A) Happy Birthday Howie!
B) If we lose tonight, blame it on TG, because I can't find anything wrong with the GDT, and it's good luck to find something wrong.

I checked it three times before I posted it.
I don't know if I stay up for this one. I have a big game myself tonight (whoever wins tonight wins the championship) and I am starting in net (like I have been doing the entire year)
If we lose I'll be home in time. If we win, I'm getting drunk downtown. Hopefully the last thing will happen

Now why would you do that?? You make me have little freak outs (I almost said spasms, and realized THAT wouldn't come out right!) when my superstitions aren't fulfilled. Do you really want me to freak out?!
A goalie? That's cool, but are you a cool goalie (ala Howie), or a spazzy one (ala Roy or Hasek)??

I won't be able to watch the game tonight - I have a game of my own at 8. So, I'll miss all of it I assume... but I trust I can read the thread later to gather all the info I need. Go Wings! Have a good night watching the game guys.

Hahaha.
And if you really wanted to get specific, Nick Schultz is from Strasbourg, Saskatchewan.

Strange.... I could have sworn it'd be at least 4 SCF seeing as how they have 4 cups since 1991... Very odd indeed.
