not sure why i'm even responding to this, but i did say "involving schenn and kaberle"...not just schenn and kaberle for malkin. obviously they would want a legit top line winger to play with crosby in a malkin trade though...so kessel would probably have to be in the deal.

i would probably consider some sort of kaberle and kessel for malkin deal.

Absolutely. If we can trade Finger, and a half decent prospect I would do it. He just needs a change of scenery and he ll go back to becoming one of the best players in the league.

If Tampa would do Grabo+Kaberle+mid level prospect- I would do it, but I wouldn`t wanna give up any other roster players, or anyone of real value.
Grabo+Kabby are roughly same combined cap hit as Lecavalier..So we give up our best bargaining chip in Kabby, and an overpaid small centre, to get our big number 1 centre with truculence...

I also think this could make a 1a,1b situation;
Kulemin-Bozak-Kessel
Stalberg-Vinny-(Caputi,Kadri,or UFA)

We need a big horse in the middle, no doubt.....I just donno about this one though.....If this deal was available, Im glad Burkie is making the decision, and not I....Its a tough one....

I don't want vinny and his contract anywhere Near our team

If we really have to go for a bad-contract guy..why not Briere..or something..im just very opposed to getting tied down with one player for 10 years

I'd rather try to get bergeron or pavelski

I would take him but they'd have to take Finger and Grabovsky. I would not include Kaberle or Schenn or Kadri.

His contract is massive, so I wouldn't want to give up anything of value for it, but if it was essentially a free salary dump? I'd take him for sure.

Single handedly? He was at most, their 4th best player.

I would do it for Grabovsky, Finger and Stefanovich.

I still think he's an elite player. Needs a change of scenery. Would not be surprised if he returned to a 90-100 point player.

id take him if we could move finger and grabovski, since adding his 7,5 hit wed be the new new york rangers in overpaid players per capita

If he can put up 66 points in 70something games playing with nobodies, then he can go back to being over a PPG player with Kessel on his line. If he can do that, then he can justify a good portion, though certainly not all, of his monster contract. I think that is definitely worth taking, so long as we do not give up significant value in return. Grabo + Finger + prospect would probably fit the bill.

definately. we have been dealing with over inflated salaries here for years. put it this way, id rather pay 7.5 for vinny than 3.5 for finger. think about it, we lose fingers contrant among others and gain vinnys, then lose kaberle's for some more youth and we're in no more trouble than we were originally financially.

No one can afford it... that contract that the Hollywood boys gave him is just plain stupid. Couple that with the fact that he's a 30-ish player who's often been accused of having questionable work habits... I think that all adds up to a resounding "No".

do you really think they'd take Finger? if we could ditch Finger in that deal i'd do it....but i think it might be a little too wishful thinking.

That being said, Burke did trade Toskala and Blake in the same deal

I love Vinny he is one of my favorite players. I would love to him on the Leafs. I worry that he hit his prime early though and his contract could become a real anchor in 3 years down the road. His recovery from his shoulder is also a bit concerning but he has played real good hockey of late after a real slow start.

I think he is worth the risk though if you could get him for a deal similar to the Thornton trade a few years ago.

I would have no problem taking a shot with Vinny except for the NMC contract. If you are wrong that will kill ya. Without the NMC I would go for him in a heart-beat. It is not the contract nor the cap hit but the NMC that is a real killer. His cap hit (7.7 million) is with you till 2020 and there is nothing you can do about it if wrong.

At his salary no thanks.

I haven't seen a player regress as quickly as Vinny though. Just three seasons ago he looked like he was arguably the best overall player in the league. Now, he's just a shadow of his former self.

I think he needs a change of scenery though. The emergence of Stamkos has meant less ice time for Vin.

no he didn't. he was a great secondary player in the run though.

the guy was the real beast for them that year in the playoffs is the guy burke will hopefully sign after next season as a free agent.

no assets lost, and a better player at the moment, and likely for less $$. sounds good.

Vinny is a great player, but that contract is just too big. Moving Finger (minors) is a given and Grabo would clear some space, but we would put ourselves into a position where we have too much money committed to too few players and it would handcuff our team for the forseeable future.

Doing something like this would be OK in hte case of Richards because he only has 1 year left, not with Vinny and 10 years.

I would do it, but a bad/expensive contract would have to be going the other way.

And everyone should keep in mind... while the contract is bad, look at what NYR got for Gomez... and I'd take Vinny over Gomez in a trade in a heartbeat.

I don't think TB would take Finger (who would - they will probably bury him next year anyways), but I'd consider doing...

Beauch/Grabo/prospect

for

Vinny

Keep doing the quantity for quality trades BB!
