I kind of enjoy it. He pops up for one or 2 posts during the game thread and its kind of funny reading the one post when the leafs score and the other one 10 seconds later when the opposition scores.

I'd like to keep Hanson actually.. decent 4th liner.

Haha how jokes are the random plugs playing in the Rookies.

Hanson is definitely iffy and I probably wouldn't miss him, but Stalberg is someone I want to keep around. His speed is just crazy, I just hope the rest of his game can catch up to him. Once he comes together, I think he'll be deadly.

despite lack of production, I really like the play of both those guys. They are good hard working 3rd liners right now. Hanson really uses his size well, and Stalberg has been really throwing his weight around too. Both are good on the backcheck, and Stalberg speed gives teams headaches...

Leafs could probably upgrade a guy like Hanson through free agency, but it would be nearly impossible to replace Stalbergs speed and size.

I'd take Mitchell over both Hanson and Stalberg.

I don't really want any of them back though. They all need more work in the AHL.

He will be playing Marlies next season. Besides playing his 3rd/4th line roll ok, he can't penalty kill and can't shoot.

Del Zotto is a -25... should the rangers dump him?

No, I do believe he's saying that plus/minus is not the only metric you should be judging a player by.

This is what we have to keep in perspective.

It's another layer of intrigue to end the season, cheering on the kids to block Boston from those top few picks, but at the end of the day we really would be better off enjoying how this young lineup is shaping up.

The season has basically been over before the trade deadline, but after the overhaul Burke has orchestrated the difference in play is almost night and day.

That is very encouraging.

I doubt it's in the best interest of the boards for a mod to put users on ignore

I agree. Forgive me, though, if I choose to focus on that particular intrigue of the draft picks. Perhaps it's a bit petty of me, but it has certainly made for a more thrilling end to a mostly unpleasant season.

Once the draft is over and the new reality of next season begins to form, I'll start focusing a bit more on the promise of this young team. For now, I'll keep hoping the Leafs end up depriving the Boston fans of their glee.

All things considered, really, the Bruins ending up with a top player may be less threatening than the Islanders getting another marquee player to play with Tavares, or the Lightning getting yet another potential top talent to play with Stamkos.

Just a reminder to everyone, we aren't allowed to discuss putting people on ignore lists. I recently was given a warning for it. So I just thought I'd give everyone the heads up. Not that I disagree with everyone's frustration with certain posts. But everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess. I admit the negative posts after a game like that are extremely frustrating. There is one poster, can't remember his user name, but all he does is slam the Leafs on almost a daily basis. Yet he never posts in another teams forum? Weird.

Huh? My hint is that No One respond to his rants. Was it really that hard to understand? If so, my apologies.

pretty much.

the list of worst +/- players in the league is actually a list of pretty effective and attractive players. It sort of a flawed stat in the grand scheme of things.

It's certainly not appealing to be a -12, but I think he does more in his play that makes him useful.

as I said earlier, While maybe a player like Hanson could be upgraded through the free agent market, it would be very hard to replace the speed and size Stalberg has. there is also significant upside in Victor.

an aside;

did anyone else know that Patrick O'sullivan has the worst +/- in the league?

or that Fedotenko is a -15? On a team like Pittsburgh?

For god sakes get rid of Mitchell. Him and his retarded plays, his soft dump ins, and his turnovers. Not to mention skating the puck instead of chipping it in forcing turnovers. That kid better not be playing for the leafs next season

Phil Kessel scores #30! Nice.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the game - just bits and pieces of it. Was Mitchell back to his old self? For a few games he seemed to be playing OK and I was almost accepting the fact that he might be on the team next year (not on the second-line obviously).

I'm pretty happy with one point against the Penguins especially after playing yesterday and then having to travel while they just got to chill.

Johnny Malkin contributes so little to this team but when he does contribute it actually does matter (like yesterday's goal) but he just horrible defensively , trade him for a 2nd or 3rd so he can score 10 goals in 10 please

the leaf commentators were funny with that one comment of the fan dancing behind the Leafs bench.

something like: Is he one of the Village People ?

Overall, it was a pretty decent game (which is somewhat confusing for me as the Leafs still gave up 4 goals in regulation). The effort was there for most of the game and some days, you just flat-out run into a better team.

There were quite a few giveaways at both ends so while it was likely to make fans of defensive hockey flinch, it was pretty entertaining to see some great scoring chances and solid goaltending from both teams. In the grand scheme of things, the Leafs managed to get a point against the defending Stanley Cup champs. That's not too bad at all.
