Lines per Mike Harrington:

Ennis-Hecht-Pominville
Kennedy-Roy-Stafford
Gerbe-Gaustad-Grier
Ellis-Mair-Mancari

I hope it's not 2-0, Bruins, by the time Lindy realizes Gerbe and Mancari don't belong on checking lines, and Drew Stafford is useless in the top-6 right now.

I'm gonna assume Jack Edwards is going to be calling the game on Versus, therefore be prepared to hear "SAVE. BY. THOMAS!" It just rolls off the tongue ever so nicely.

It just occurred to me that Goose's life might be in danger. He's going to be centering a BU guy (Grier) and a BC guy (Gerbe)

Yeah I know, it figures...especially since the Sabres are back next week too. He has a pretty decent track record of playing in the games I go to, minus the time he lost to major injuries.

Well, there is an easy fix here. Swap Stafford and Mancari please. The lines look a lot better that way. Gerbe on the third is fine. He can't break up the first line and an all smurf second line is probably a bad thing so yeah, 3rd line.

Question: Isn't Ennis an emergency recall? So he eventually has to go back to Portland right?

yes, but I think all 3 guys are emergency call ups.

OMG! Those line are ****ing awful! Fire Ruff!

But seriously, anyone who whines about the lines tonight is gonna get *****-slapped.

We're down to the stems and seeds, folks. I'm just happy we got 12 forwards on the ice.

Demote Drew.
This just in, Lindy Ruff is an overrated coach.

Demote Drew.

If there was a time for Stafford to break out of his little cocoon, to make an unequivocal statement to fans and management that he is worth his pay, that he belongs, then the next several games is that time.

I wonder if he realizes this, or even cares?

I think if he was going to do so, he would have already. I can't remember him putting forth an honest and usefull effort since Drury left town. Lindy's not getting through to him because he keeps giving him icetime regardless of how terrible he is. He's a lost cause IMO.

This.

Why Stafford keeps getting one undeserved chance after another to stick in the top 6 is beyond me. Put Mancari with Roy and TK and dump Stafford's ass on the 4th line.

I would expect Emerick or Beninati doing the PBP and Brickley doing the color commentary.

Based on the Sabres previous performances with multiple emergency recalls on the ice, I'm fully expecting a blowout in the Sabres favor.

Seriously. Despite the undeniable physical softness of this team, they've been remarkably tough mentally the last few years when hit with the injury bug...assuming Miller wasn't one of those injured, of course.

I expect a big game from everyone.

Everyone except Stafford.

I don't understand Drew Stafford or guys like him. So much talent, playing the greatest game in the world in the best league there is, making buckets of money and yet the effort isn't there?

How can the effort not be there? The guy has to realize how lucky he is to be where he is. Yeah, he worked hard to get there but a lot of guys work hard and never make it. He has gifts that if any of us guys had, we would be skating like every shift was our last.

All I and most fans ask for is an honest effort. I can tell Matt Ellis is playing his ass off. I can't tell with Stafford. It bothers me.

Stafford's performance has been better the last couple of games. At this point, I'll take that over the alternative.

Until more bodies get healthy, Stafford will be leaned on to get through the next couple of weeks. I'm not sure Mancari and Gerbe can do much better, let alone Mair and Ellis. It's a numbers game at this point.

(And yes, I do realize attempting to say anything positive about Stafford is akin to ripping lines of Paxil at a Scientology retreat.)

Please don't let it be Beninatti. His voice makes me cringe.

All I'm saying is that all three of the Portland guys have been impact players in limited viewing. Stafford hasn't for a while. He did look pretty solid on the third line the other night though.

Must be a nice treat for you to see 5 guys who have come through the Pirates playing (assuming Butler plays over Sekera).

The 3G line!

They will be faster and have more connection than lesser G lines in the league

I won't lie this game seems like an utter trap to me. The call-ups have all preformed well in the past, and Ennis had a pretty monster game over the weekend. Not to mention that the Bruins are a completely beatable team, not one where I enter the game expecting a loss.

That being said I don't want to call a blow out. Nor am I sure that I necessarily want to call a win. Pencil me in for cautiously optimistic.

Also does anyone know of a good stream for tonight? My college doesn't get Versus, and the stream I typically use was taken down by "copyright holders." So I'm game-less tonight.
