Rickard Wallin

is this guy not the worst player in the NHL?

like seriously...2 goals? and one was an empty netter. you have to be kidding me.

there are at least 10 guys in my men's league that would put up bigger numbers.

Actually, I think he's been pretty solid since ... since Sjostrom came along.

Sure he doesn't put up points, but he's played fairly okay.

With that said, I have no problem replacing Primeau and Wallin with guys like Malhotra and Torres this summer .

I've been happy with his play as of late. He's been effective on the PK and is more physical than he was earlier on in the year.

He's a solid skater and quite honestly, a solid fourth liner. I won't mind if they bring him back, but I won't miss him either.

Are they undrafted? Burke loves those guys - but seriously all the Wallin hate isn't warranted anymore - he was doing absolutely nothing until the past 15-20 games, where he's taken a much larger role playing the PK effectively and putting up a few points. He's still quite passive, but at least he's remotely useful now - who knows what will happen to this guy, preferably he's gone but he may have some use in a ceremonial role in the AHL as Gustavsson's buddy, or depending on UFA pickups he could still have some use on the 4th.

He's a solid on the defensive side of the puck. Fits the role of a fourth line center perfectly with his solid D and PKilling. I would like to see him be more of a physical force although thats just not his style.

Yes he won't be back. Dead weight offensively and since the club has the worst PK in the league his performance outside of personal stats hasn't earned him a return.
If you go way back to when the club had a great PK, like 02-03, it was a bunch of top 6 guys that ate up most of the minutes. A couple of their 4th line guys, Healey and Fitzgerald, also led the forwards in plus minus.
I don't mind Sjo, but Wallin doesn't have NHL caliber offensive skills. Colton Orr has more goals.

He is not as bad as you make him out to be. He is decent defensively and doesn't make too many mistakes either.

How much offense do you expect out of a defensive center who makes 800k? He may be soft but his contract garnered reason for Gustavsson joining the club. I've never understood why Wallin has been centered out so much. (Don Cherry?) At the end of the day he fulfills his minor role and collects a small paycheque.

Since Toskalol has left our PP% is around 83% which if maintained for the season would put us in 11th in PK%

Primeau+Wallin=2-2.5 million or so a year. Manny+Torres=5+ million a year combined.

Is that a reason to like Wallin or fire Ron Wilson?

It's even weird to think this guy had more than 40 points in 70ish games in the AHL...

Also.. 45 points in 55 SEL games

Another poster who just looks at stats?

I hate wallin as much as the next person, but he has been playing OK the last couple of months.

He ain't being asked to score goals anyhow...

Can any of the SEL fans on this board tell me what line he played on last year? His numbers could be due to the fact that he hasn't gotten big minutes with offensive players (Not saying he should get those minutes by any means).

guys like wallin and mitchell should be resigned at the league minimum. we need the cheap contracts in order to pay MONSTER and Kulemin, and they honestly wouldnt get offers anywhere else.

wallin is a little better than the beginning of the year, actually looks like a 65% nhl player. Mithcell, sometimes he looks like Jonny Malkin, other times, well he looks like John Mitchell.

Wallin played with Marcus Paulsson and Lee Goren I think. Wallin was the clearly most talented on the line and maybe the third or so best player(non-goalie) in the SEL.
