Just *poof* their contract is gone, etc, they're just somewhere else. Who would it be?

Agreed, 100%...this inconsistent nerve-wrecking style of hockey is what the Predator Way is all about and everyone at some point along the way has stepped up to contribute and we need everyone continuing to step up to keep things going...

The fans that yell shoot when there is no lane whatsoever to shoot, the defender is in our face up top or when our player is on his backhand with his back to the net.

Other than that I will keep everyone of our gritty hardworking boys.

I agree 100%. It's hard to complain about the contracts on a team with a self imposed cap. At least one where you're fairly certain a 5 star gm will never pull the trigger on one of those crazy New York Ranger style $6 million plus for the latest overrated grandpa on skates whose "intangibles" are supposed to put you over the top.

Long-term, Erat's contract is probably the worst one we have on the books, but he has been, at times, our best scorer. Legwand's contract is steep as well, but he has been playing good offensive hockey when finally given linemates this year. His defensive prowess is also a big benefit.

I don't know. I wouldn't get rid of any contracts unless I knew Poile would actually go out and use the money to improve the team with a similar contract for a higher-end forward....

in the offseason both Arnott and Sully contracts are problematic..... getting out of one of those would be the most helpful to the team, but I don't think there is any player right NOW that we should dump....

We have to get rid of one of Sullivan, Arnott, Dumont during the offseason. I don't think it is a choice if we want to keep Hornqvist and resign either Grebs, Hamhuis, Cube. So let's just say...

Sullivan Goc Hornqvist
Wilson Arnott Erat
Boyd Legwand Ward
Tootoo Smithson Spaling

Weber/Suter
Hamhuis (or grebs)/Franson
Klein/Whoever

Rinne
whoever

That looks ok to me.

easy for me: Dumont.

While I think he has skated and *gasp* actually shot the puck the past few games, he is still the most worthless player on our team in terms of what he brings to the table for his salary

no we dont, and we wont. all three have NTC's and arent likely to waive them heading into a contract year. I think we werent planning on re-signing hammer and probably not cube.

my answer to is question is Sulzer. I believe he has a one way deal next year and he has proved he isnt really ready for prime time.

Guys, as an Oilers fan, I've been watchign Denis Grebseshkov for a couple of years. The guy is the strangest player I've ever seen, in terms of what he does year after year. Last year, he was incredible- he played like Smid has been playing this year. And then this year, BAM, he was just awful. I'd be fairly hesitant to resign Grebs. At the most, give him a 1yr deal at something like 2m.

Grebs is an RFA and thus must be tendered a Qualifying Offer of 100% of his current salary of 3.15 million. Its possible that if he is arbitration eligible that the team would request arbitration to try to get a lower number.

I suspect Poile will try to negotiate a multi year deal with more reasonable numbers, and failing that will trade his rights for a draft pick to recoup what we paid for him.

I don't mind the idea of having a Wade Belak to defend guys like Hrnqvist. We had MacIntyre on the Oilers and I wasn't happy when he was traded.

I would make Arnott and Dumont's contracts end this year and take about .5 million a year from Legwand and Erat's contracts. I wouldn't get rid of anyone now, this team is gelling and its playoff time.

I hardly catch games, so my mentioning Belak has a lot to do with the games I have seen this season he's non-existent. I do admit yes we need someone to go toe to toe with heavy weights, but besides Belak's humor I don't see why we need him on the team.
