I really believe Andy's problem is not being physically tired, but mentally tired. He's got to be mentally spent, having to carry this team night it, night out, and dealing with the pressure that comes with being the guy. Yeah, we don't have Montreal or Toronto pressure, but being a goaltender here isn't always a walk in the park. Everyone expects you to be Patrick Roy, and those are big shoes to fill.

I think (and hope) that next year he'll be even more focused and prepared knowing what a 70+ game grid is like, especially facing 35-40 shots a night.

Is it just me.. but the comments from Avs after this weekend just doesn't seem right. They didn't sound like they have confidence..

Quote:
We've got to stay positive. If we play with the same effort like we had tonight, we're not going to see three or four goals go in off our guys like tonight," Avs captain Adam Foote said

Nice article on Flames chasing Avs:

“We’ve got to stay positive.”

Heard this one before?

“You have to make those bounces go your way. But right now they’re not going our way. Bottom line, though, is we need to be better.”

We’ve been listening to that stuff for weeks in Calgary — the soft cries of the sinking. Over and over again.

But this latest batch of warmed-over wisdom comes from another outpost in the Mountain Time Zone.

Yes, it’s the crashing Colorado Avalanche, with only one win in its past six outings.

So you get Adam Foote reciting that first quote in the aftermath of the Avs’ latest loss — Sunday’s 4-3 decision to the San Jose Sharks. Ruslan Salei puts voice to the second standard.

I fully agree with you , Andy played only 31 games last season with florida and it was his highest total in the NHL . This year , they asked him to take the work load of a Luongo or a Brodeur . In my book that's a huge mistake , they are asking too much out of him too soon.

Ever since the end of the olympics , he doesnt look as sharp as he was b4 the break . He doesnt make those amasing kick ass saves that he used to do, the key saves that will keep us in the game . One may even say that he doesn't look as confident as b4 .They said on TV the other day that he gaveup 3+ goals for like 7 of his last 9 starts , something like that. We just have to look at him , he doesnt look the same since the break

Blame the defense, it has gotten even worse since the break.

McElhinney is starting. Getzlaf and Hiller didn't make the trip. Avs will win.

Duchene is a bust and Stastny is Horcoff.

Anderson is not NHL ready.

We're Edmonton Oilers in disguise.

6-2 Avs tonight though.

Sounds a little like:

Greiss is starting. Thornton and Nabokov (and Blake) not in the line-up. Avs will win.

We know how that worked out.....

This board is made up of fully confident and not-so-confident fans

Mcbackup has won 2 in the row, and I don't underestimate Corry Perry.

I hope we will get points.

More like the board is filled with half members that have menstrual cycle every time we on some sort of streak and the other half doesn't.

Or bipolar if you prefer.

Because people on the internet know more than the coaches that spend all day with the players. Don't you know anything? GOSH!

...and a good enough effort that on many nights would lead to a win.

There are no gimmes but it is certainly to the Avs benefit to be facing a back-up goaltender and the opposition without a top forward.

An Avs win coupled with a Calgary loss wouldn't take away from the importance of Friday's game but it would certainly remove some of the drama.
