Confirmed- SOB "suspended" until sunday

AV just had his gameday press conference and confirmed that SOB did a bag skate today, and will not skate or accompany the team until Sunday (barring an injury) which means he will miss the upcoming roadtrip to Cali

AV was quoted saying " Obviously there is more to this than the incident yesterday, we have a plan for SOB and we will re-evaluate his part with this team on Sunday"

I really think we can say goodbye to this guy because we all know how much Gillis looks for "character" in a player

AV saying there is more to it than just yesterday. Apparently he has been late a few times and his conditioning has slipped a bit.

really disappointing

o'brien had an excellent opportunity here to become a solid top-4 d-man for the canucks

while i think he's had a pretty good year given his extra minutes, it's disappointing to learn that he let his conditioning slip during the olympics and at other points during the regular season

sucks because o'brien is one of my favourite canuck players and successful teams win with guys like him (assuming they are fully committed)

however, due to lack of organizational depth on the blueline, i wouldn't say that he's played himself out of the organization quite yet

I'd say that unless he leads all scorers in the playoffs, he's gone in the offseason.

I agree. It's going to happen in the off-season -- unless he plays like Bobby Orr for the rest of this season and playoffs.

I cant elaborate because of board rules, but if you knew his off-ice antics, you wouldnt be so high on him.

Oh no.

More of "slow bus to the blueline" Alberts.

What the hell has SOB done?! I'm not questioning AV's judgement, I'm just curious as to what happened, as this can't be from just being late for a practice.

To be honest this is when SOB pisses me off the most..When he thinks he is an offensive d-man and tries to do too much like rush the ice with the puck or pinch the blueline when he should be playing back.

SOB made this league by being a physical, in your face, keep it simple dman and i think he has forgotten that.

I want to like SOB, but man, how stupid is he?

He's already been a healthy scratch and in the doghouse multiple times this year, and he continues to show up late and **** like that?

If he doesn't want to put in the spade work the other 20-something guys are, see ya, Shane!

Agreed. Maybe play a little more like Willie Mitchell -- because we sure as hell could use a top shut-down D-man in Willie's absence.

read the quote, AV already said theres more to this than just being late yesterday.

and slow bus Alberts?

1. SOB isnt exactly challenging raymond for fastes skater on the team.

2. Alberts is 6'5 what do you expect? No more excuses for Alberts, he has had a chance to be with the team and practice our system. I think he will start showing us why he was a plus player playing in Carolina.

Not only has he been a healthy scratch multiple times, but this is SOB's 3rd team. He is running out of chances in the NHL..

lol however it still doesnt make me miss Lucas soo soft Krajicek

This is unfortunate, SOB has looked good in spots.
The extra difficult aspect about this is that everyone else's time will have to be bumped up, which gets us into trouble. Our D is at its least vulnerable when the minutes are divided more evenly, but noticeable cracks form when anyone of the D starts playing 23+ minutes regularly. Edler, Bieksa and even Erhoff play stronger when you can pick the minutes, and even "old legs" Salo can't log 25 minutes regularly.
