Holy Christ, people really are forgetting what it was like when Malik was on this team if you are saying you want him back.

The bashing was EXACTLY like what is happening to Redden, go back and read the old threads. 2 years from now when Redden is gone and some other crappy defender takes his place, everyone will be saying "man, Redden sure was a hell of a lot better than ______, at least he didn't do _______"....same thing every time...

Totally 150% agreed. malik was an abomination. he was as bad as Redden, possibly worse since Redden doesnt have those, holy crap i didnt know an athlete could be that frikkin stupid type moments. instead reddens shortfalls are usually a result of his severe lack of foot speed, and softness, hes not a smart player, but i dont think hes an idiot like Malik was. only thing that malik had on redden was he wasnt making 6.5 million bucks a year to suck royally.

Malik was NOT better than Girardi, I hope you meant Gilroy.

I also think Redden and Gilroy are both better than Malik. His foot speed was awful, and sure, Redden's is too, but at least Redden knows this and seems to play to his strengths. I don't see Redden get beat one on one as badly as Malik did at times. Then again, I guess Malik was seeing a lot more ice time.

They're wondering how that play can happen to an NHL-vet of "756 NHL-battles". They must have never seen him play in those "battles".

He got an assist to the game-winner (Jeff Toms) later in the game.

Imagine him on this team? I don't have to because I lived it. One good year than a dramatic decline. And when I saw the thread title I thought it was going to be a video of any one of his many own goals here. Maybe we can get a montage of his primary assists for the other team next week.

By the way guys, if he's better than Redden and Gilroy, that makes him the #5 defenseman. 4 dmen are still better than him.

If Malik played a version of hockey on the beach, he would be the guy buried up to his knees in sand from the surf.

Goalie leaves crease to stop dump in, Malik takes it, gets a little pressure from forechecker chasing him around net, tries to quickly dish it to partner, goalie is just getting back into position and banks off his skate.

Agree: Malik is slow and soft as a pillow. He didn't do much to help the team.

Yeah he scored in the 18th round of the shootout(BIG DEAL)

He sucks just as much as Redden.

I remember demi-god Beukeboom doing the same thing, except without the help of his goaltender.

*Note: This is by no means any form of defense of Marek

Didn't even think of Gilroy at the time of my post.

You're right though, hes also better than him, so I guess he'd be our #3.

Edit: Well I guess he would be replacing Redden so yeah, #4. Staal, Rozey, Del Zotto, Malik, Girardi and Gilroy.

If you think Malik was tough, then, you haven't a clue what tough is.

If you think Malik is better than Girardi, then, you should stick to watching water ballet.

Malik better than Girardi?

You guys crack me up.

Malik was 100 times better hockey player than Colton Orr, but Orr is beloved and Malik hated. All you need to know about the "wisdom" of fans.

When it went bad for Malik it went really bad. It was a freight train going down hill with no brakes. Obviosuly the rest of the NHL feels the same way cause he is playing in Europe now.

Sorry, I forgot that Girardi is young and one of our own so its hands-off when it comes to bashing him.

what the hell kind of comparison is that? might as well be comparing horses and ostriches. Youre comparing a role player pugilist who plays what, 4-6 minutes a night, to a (i laughingly call him) top 6 defenseman...thats just a ridiculous comparison.

Did Malik earn $600K and play 6 minutes a night? No?

That tells you it's not a good comparison.....
