The Sharks have this one. RW's been pulling out all the right moves. This is the first real adversity this team has faced since November, they will rise to the challenge. They're too good not to.

it could be argued that this team should have risen to the challenge the last two games, and if they were too good not to, why didn't they?

the Sharks are on their heels, and everyone knows it. if Abby plays a good game, SJ is in it deep. 4-2 Avs is my call.

Obviously because they were up 3-0 and thought they could win another 1-0 game since Nabokov had been unbeatable. If the Sharks play the way they did in games 1 and 2 they'll win. They have a far better coach and he needs to prove it tonight.

I doubt the avs will score more than 2 goals, they're only averaging 1 per game and I haven't seen anything from them to suggest otherwise. GO SHARKS!!!

I know San Jose has some guys that are banged up and maybe a SJ fan could post an injury update. As for Colorado Kariya is a go. Blake and Tanguay will be game time decisions. Tanguay's knee is probably only 50 or 60 percent healthy. There is some speculation that Blake's injury has to do with his ribs.

conversely, if the Avs play the way they did in games 3, 4 and 5, they'll win. They have far better top-end talent (more with Kariya back) and they just might prove it tonight.

SJ has just announced that Todd Harvey will be out tonight, with Scott Thornton a game-time decision to take his place. If Thornton can't go, Marcel Goc will play in his 2nd NHL game.

This definitely hurts the Sharks, since Harv was a big piece of the "Annoy Forsberg" puzzle. It'll be interesting to see how they line up. If Thornton is back, that could spark the line with Ricci/Cheechoo, allowing Primeau to move to the 4th line with Brown and Smith (which would be a good thing for the Sharks -- despite Primeau's speed, he just hasn't made the 3rd line click like Thornton).

McCauley's shoulder is obviously still banged up (since you can see he isn't taking faceoffs and hasn't been shooting the puck as much as he did during the regular season)...

Correction: They lost Game 3, so correctly stated, if the Avs play like they did in 3-5, they could win.

Kariya plays right into SJ's style of play. He's a risk-taking forward that hasn't played in a few weeks, and could be prone to mistakes. Rick-taking is a two-way street; if it works, it really works. If not, it really doesn't. SJ is a team that feeds off of other teams' mistakes for its offensive pushes (which is why IMO Calgary can take out SJ), and if Kariya makes mistakes, he's killed his team where it stands. The fact that he hasn't played in a couple of weeks ratchets that mistake possibility up a few notches.

Sharks have also scratched Tom Preissing for the first time this playoff run. Jim Fahey (!?) is in the lineup, though I don't see him playing much. At least I hope not.

Was it my imagination, or did Forsberg actually stop that shot into the open net, rather than it hitting the side of the net?

Looked like Forsberg got it to me too.

This looks like the classic "road team has the best of the play but can't score, and the home team gets a goal and it's over" to me.

Yup, and no argument from me on the Rathje minor either... so long as they call it the other way later... stuff like that is going on all over.

Sharks dominate the first, and no score. 12-2 the shots.

Can't be good....that just can't be good.

If Marleau shows up for the 2nd or 3rd the Sharks have a good chance. 12 shots and not one really good scoring chance.

On the upside for Colorado, they can save some money since they only need to run the Zamboni's over 1/2 the ice after that period

I disagree on the "not one really good scoring chance" part. Obviously, Hannan staring at an empty net has to be considered a great chance.

Not to mention, the Sharks are getting shots from in-between the faceoff circles (Ekman), and down low (Primeau and Cheechoo). The SJ broadcast had the scoring chances as 8-0 late in the first... of course that's very subjective compared to the 12-2 SOG edge, but I thought the Sharks did have some very good chances... they just didn't put one by Aebischer.
