Alright, we're not out yet, but as I'm ill and bored and I'm procrastinating about school work I thought I'd post this:
GM: Lasse Johansson
Head coach: -
Asst. coach: -
Goalie coach: Krister Holm
* I put Söderberg on the first line just because I couldn't fit him on some other line right now.
** I suspect he'll get a contract and might end up in HockeyAllsvenskan on loan.
There's probably some faulty things here, but this is just a guess what we're after:
1. A solid first line center.
2. Two wingers, hopefully two goalscoring ones with grit. (Doubt we'll get that, sadly.)
3. A d-man of good class, preferably one who would be able to bump up our powerplay. I'd like to have Mäenpää here, but I bet Frölunda will snatch him away with a big bag of cash.
I've got a couple of fears, and these are the following:
1. St. Louis brings Rundblad over.
2. Calgary takes Erixon.
That'd create a big hole in our d-man core. Sure, we've got some really nice prospects (Burström, Granberg etc) to replace them, but we'd sort of have to start over once again which would be sad.
So our losses could then be:
That's the worst case scenario, but I doubt we'll lose all. Personally I'd like to keep Warg (if he agrees to decrease his salary demands, according to Västerbottens Folkblad he's got a nice contract) and Majesky (He's been solid as hell, a bit clumsy some times trying to do solo raids ala Rundblad, but he's a stud in the defensive zone. He's even been better than Skrbek who seems to have had some troubles with injuries lately). I'm quite hopeful that Erixon and Rundblad gets another season in SEL, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rundblad leaves.
So then we'd end up losing the following:
Brad Moran (As much as I like the guy, I feel that he's lost focus. But who wouldnt when you've got Russians offering bags of tax-free money? Can we find a better leading center? I doubt it, but I think we've lost him already).
Tomas Surovy (Sad but true, there's something wrong with him, either he's just crap right now or he's still suffering from his knee injuries. I loved the guy to bits when he first came to us, he wasn't great at first, but he was certainly one of the best on the team while we were on our losing streak (unfortunatly). Tenkrat and him had some nice chemistry.)
Niklas Strandberg (I dislike the fellow, he's sort of who I blame for stuff even though he might not have been involved (Immature? Hell yeah). To be more honest, I feel that he's developed a bit, I think he did a good game last time he had to step in for Skrbek.)
Christoffer Norgren (It's time for change, give us a charismatic captain (Jimmie Ericsson please), he's been better in the playoffs than he was earlier this year. But yeah, it's time for him to leave.)
Jyri Marttinen (Sad but true here as well, seemed like a good kid. But it's kind of impossible to have a guy on your team that several players loath and can't deal with. Bye bye Jyri, you'll always be a hero.)
Nicklas Dahlberg (Needs icetime, and I doubt he'll get it in Skellefteå.)
Alright, so... Rumours you say? Well there's none, other than that we'll have a Swede on try out. Other than that I'll just throw some names out that I think would be something that LJ is looking at:
Patrick Galbraith - We love stealing from Björklöven, and there isn't much else I'd like from that club, so why not Patrick? I doubt it'll happen though.
Joakim Lindström - I'm holding my thumbs for this one, I think that liven up the city once more. More players from the area can never hurt a club.
So... That's all I could come up with player-wise right now. There's basically no rumours. Well, Aftonbladet had one about Michael Holmqvist signing for us, but that's not happening. He wouldn't move up to Skellefteå.
I almost forgot about our new coach, there's been ****loads of names floating around. But nothing concrete, though I wouldn't be surprised if LJ takes a no-name coach. In fact, I'd rather have that then Swinger-Homer from AIK. Or any other old fart that has been whoring around in all clubs in Sweden.
Oh, thanks for that reminder about the lineup chart, '78. I'll edit KC's post and add ones like it for all SEL teams.
With the correct positions.
I'm ready to bet money on that Färjestad will announce Wallin and Frögren early next week. Toronto plays their last game of the season on saturday. A wet dream would be that they also announce Axelsson, Johansson and Berglund at the same time.
Linköping will probably use Erik Lindhagen next year (especially since they will cut down on the budget once again... or so they say).... so you can put him in one of the C slots. You can also put Mattias Bäckman on the 4th defensive pairing until we see how many other d-men they sign.
Former MoDo Hockey junior-player Marcus Högström has signed a three year deal with Skellefteå. Apparently there's something special about the contract as it seems to be a try-out deal first and foremost.
AIK will surely have a strong team next year, well, I suspect it at least. For their own sake I just hope they trust some of the players that they got promoted with.
I don't think there will be any Finns a la Leksand in AIK next season. Mostly cause they don't have the money for it.
Some of those mediocre foreigners are actually easier and cheaper acquisitions than Swedes. Think of all the no-name Finns that Mora used to sign when they were in the SEL. It will be interesting to see which way AIK chooses to go.
Looks like Gozzi has his work cut out for him. AIK does not have a single player signed for next season. How many of the old guard does he keep? Will he stay away from mediocre Finns, etc?
was thinking about that on my way to work this morning!
I think AIK might have a hard time getting top players.
1. Djurgården seems to have taken a strong hold of the player market in Stockholm.
2. Getting player to stay and perform well in Stockholm has been easy in all cases according to DIF.
Let me expand.
A couple of weeks ago there was a piece covering this in SvD, might still be avaible online. DIF, while not having spies, has deepende ther cooperations with a lot of clubs in the region, Almtuna for example. The deal is kind of both ways, teams recommend players they feel DIF should take a look at and DIF recommends teams to players they arent keeping. Andreas Engqvist is supposedly a good example. While this isnt unique for DIF, they currently most certainly have a clear advantage over AIK.
DIFs extensive work developing juniors "in house" in is part a result of players from smaller towns having a hard time adjusting to life in Stockholm and underperforming and leaving once the contract expires. Nobody will confuse Stockholm and New York, but you get the picture.
Developing players from the region the know at an early stage if they are going to enjoy playing here and performing accordingly to what the team expects.
From my point of view that means that either one or both of Sevc and Granak are on their way back. That also probably means that Färjestad will have atleast one juniorplayer as a defenseman next year.
Grundel, Nygren or Brodin.. It's hard to say but I think all three of them will make apperances.
Update: Lindgren apperently wanted to leave cause him and his family dident like it in Karlstad.
He's gone from the team anyways.
Update on the other name that's being bounced around:
Wallin - Has asked for more time, he is still hoping he will hear something from the NHL. He will probably not give an answer to the offerd contract until after the WC.
Blindenbacher - Has also until after the WC to leave an answer
Berglund - Same thing.
Frögren - Apperars to be signed but there are some kinks in the contract. Probably NHL clauses.
Sevc - Will leave answer after the WC
Granak - Rumour says that he has recieved an offer but wants to scan the market until after the WC. Färjestad has not confirmed that an offer has been made.
lol. Are u serious? Clarke is one of the laziest defender in SM-liiga what I have ever seen before. He plays good first 10-15 games. Then he do everything wrong. This season he did 25 points in HIFK. First 15 games he did about 15 points...
Färjestad signed Kristofer Berglund today. Berglund played last season with Luleå HC in SEL and was 6+16 and had a AOI at about 18 min.
Färjestad now has two defencemen signed for 10/11 but Jonas Frögren is expected to be next.
The deal is supposedly ready all but some clause that they are disussing but I would be very surprised if Frögren wasent back in Färjestad and then probably with a 'C'.
