Sébastien Caron

Is this goalie playing for Fribourg-Gotteron in the Swiss league really sign a contract for this end season with the Flyers? Media says that he will landed in NY this thursday to join the Flyers organization.

Eh, we need a backup, at this point I'd take almost anybody.

OK, then why not Backlund or Dushesne? I don't think Caron could play in the Playoffs, so what is the point (he's terrible anyway). Give the rooks a couple games (if possible) and see what happens. Backlund looked decent in his 2 periods of play...

Backlund has been skating. Caron = Boucher or Duschesne. I'd rather Chico Esche in there, but like I said...if something was to happen to Boucher in the Playoffs, what would be our options anyway? Backlund, Doosh, or Hutton.....might as well let them get their feet wet if we can.

This may have been posted already, but what is the deal with Riopel? Could he have come up, and if so, could he play in the playoffs?

I remember him from his days with the Pens. Better than nothing I guess.

RDS says we claimed him?

I don't know if that link will go directly to the article, but it's listed there in the sidebar...

Desperately seeking a solution to solve their goaltending, the Flyers have turned to a former League Quebec Major Junior Hockey.

Les Flyers ont réclamé au ballottage jeudi le Québécois Sébastien Caron, qui a porté les couleurs de l'équipe de Fribourg-Gotteron de la Ligue nationale suisse au cours des trois dernières saisons. The Flyers claimed on waivers Thursday Quebecers Sebastien Caron, who played for the team Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss National League over the last three seasons.

He who led the Rimouski Oceanic in the Memorial Cup victory in 2000 has already played 92 games in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks, now a record 25-47-12 with a goals against average of 3.45 and a save percentage of, 892.

Les Flyers sont privés des services de Ray Emery et Michael Leighton pour le reste de la saison. The Flyers were without the services of Ray Emery and Michael Leighton for the rest of the season.
edit: whoa, that is nutty...I copied English text, and when I pasted some of it became French

Wow, talk about a lot of people in the farm system... even though that vid was years ago.

He's got amazing reflexes, but his positioning and fundamentals are lacking. He makes saves he has no business making, then allows goals that ECHL goalies would stop, it's pretty confusing. Maybe if the Pens had a dedicated, full time goalie coach during his development he could've been something more. Maybe a decent backup.

He wouldn't step on the ice anyways unless he had to.

Yep. You know that you just jinxed Boucher...we'll hear his groin pop on the broadcast from Long Island.

No, because it's everyone else besides Boucher who gets hurt...

Remember, Boosh getting hurt opened the door for Leighton, who eventually broke our hearts by getting hurt.

Flyers have signed G Sebastien Caron from Swiss League, Holmgren told the DN. If he clears waivers Fri at noon, will join team. More coming.
Quote:
Caron has a 3.45 GAA in 92 career NHL games, mostly with the Penguins. But has that impt NHL experience.
Quote:
It's a one-year, one-way deal for a pro-rated $500k. Will cost the Flyers about $25,906. Not a bad deal for 5 games.

Caron is, realistically, a half-step down from Boosh but a better option than Duchesne if Johan is on the shelf (and I still don't think Johan is actually better than Boosh; anyone saying otherwise is making an awfully large leap of faith off of two periods of play).

Maybe we get lucky and he's a little better than Boosh.

It's a great move, though. Gives us something.

He was very hot and cold at WBS for some average at best Baby Pens teams. When he's on ... wow. When he's off ... wow. A very nice person off the ice, though. Deserved better than what the Pens developmental program was back then. Saw a lot of talent never pan out during the same stretch of time he was there.

Caron...Meh. My recollections are basically the same as others-talent was there, but really inconsistent. I been looking at the youtube stuff...won't matter if the skaters can't get their heads out of their *****, though
