In regards to shots to the head for the rest of this season, it will only be taken into account for disciplinary actions. There is no actual rule yet for the refs to call nor is there a settled punishment for that rule, like whether it's 2:00, 5:00, misconduct, automatic suspension, etc. That will only be decided in the off-season, but for now it's been agreed that shots to the head will be taken into consideration for discipline matters, not in game matters for the remainder of this season.
That was according to Nick and Daryle in the post-game talk.
I had my friends from vancouver fly in and catch this game lol.... they were good sports about it. They were also pretty disgusted by the nucks fans around the arena. Like the guy throwing the beer cup on the ice and getting caught. Or the nucks fans that sucker punched the kings fan and took his cig.
I think the refs missed the boat on that hit. The contact was lateral contact directly to the head, and all the player got called for was a minor for charging.
The new rules, of which Halpern was, I understand, on the committee, have no teeth if the refs don't have the balls to make the call.
If ever there were a targeted hit to the head, that was it.

The penalty on the ice though... Could have been a major, however the new rule on hits to the head doesn't change anything about the way refs call the game of the ice.
Didnt really seem like he targeted the head and that the contact was more with the glass than anything. Factor in Halpern being bent over and I dont see a suspension happening.
