Hey everyone, agent Mackattack here. I’m going to take the opportunity to post some basic info on what all my clients are looking for as UFA’s this off season.
Generally speaking, I’m a pretty fair agent who puts as much thought into team situations as contract length and value. But of course, money always talks . Here we go:

Patrick Marleau – Along with Mr. Kovalchuck, Patrick is the class of this year’s UFA crop and wishes to be compensated accordingly. Worth noting is the very strong Olympic games that Patrick enjoyed, proving many nay-sayers wrong about his perceived lack of “big-game ability”. Patrick thoroughly enjoys his situation in San Jose and would like to stay but will certainly entertain offers, but at this stage of his career, Patrick is interested only in playing for a potential contending team. Patrick also wants to think of this as the last NHL contract he signs... in other words, he is looking for a long-term deal.

Alexander Frolov – Next to Mr. Marleau and Mr. Kovalchuck, my agency feels Alex is the 3rd best winger available on the UFA market. At 27 years old, teams can expect to get a legitimate top 6 winger still in the prime of his career. While the Kings have enjoyed a great season, Alex has not played the role he had hoped for and is considering moving on to a team where he can play a more prominent role. He too is looking for a longer term contract for security.

Dan Hamhuis- At 26 years old, teams can expect to sign a legitimate top 4 defenseman entering the prime of his career. Dan is very solid all around and can be relied upon to play big minutes. He enjoys the situation in Nashville, but is open to all offers... especially to teams who can promise him big minutes. Considering his age, we feel that a long term deal for Dan is what is best for him.

Saku Koivu- Saku enjoyed a very solid year in Anaheim and proved he can still be a legitimate number 2 centre in this league. Saku enjoyed the environment in Anaheim this year, but he has let me know that his number 1 priority this off-season is to try and play for a contending team for a chance to win a Stanley Cup. He is very reasonable in his contract demands and is only looking for a short tem deal.

Chris Higgins- Chris is still only 26 years old and has shown in the past legitimate goal scoring potential for a 3rd line player. Above everything else, he is looking for the right environment to play in and is open to all offers.

Mike Comie- He battled injuries this year, but we feel Mike remains a very under-rated player in this league and can assume the role of a number 2 centre if given the chance. We are entertaining all offers.

Vaclav Prospal- Like Mr. Comrie, Vinny Prospal remains a very under-rated, but productive player. Vinny is interested in playing for a contender to try and capture that Stanley Cup ring that has eluded him his entire career. His reasonable and looking for a short term deal.

Glen Metropolit- Glen enjoyed a career season this year and has proven he is a great bottom-six player in this league. He is interested in staying with his current team in Montreal but will entertain offers. Glen is specifically looking for a two or three year deal that will likely take him to the end of his career.

Henrik Tallinder- Hank is a solid all around second pairing defenseman who would be a great addition to most blue-lines. He is open to all offers and like Morris, is specifically looking for a 4 year contract in term.

Dan Ellis- Dan is a great backup/1B goaltender who has posted very solid NHL stats over the past three seasons. He is capable of pushing a number 1 goalie for teams looking for competition in net. Dan would ideally like a 2 or 3 year contract in term.

Marty Biron- You will be hard pressed to find anybody in this league who will find a bad thing to say about Marty Biron. Like Ellis, Marty is a great backup/1B goalie capable of pushing a number 1 goalie in the right situation. Marty is looking for some security, even if it’s as a backup goalie and thus is requesting a two or three year deal in term.

The New York Rangers are proud to anounce the resigning of their UFA Vaclav Prospal to a 1 year 1.3 mil contract.

Prospal's agent Mackattack went on to say :

Vinny enjoys the situation in New York, playing with Marian Gaborik especially.

Since 1.3 million is a small raise from his last contract, we are happy to accept your offer. We have a deal sir.

He's the players agent. You don't have to wait til FREE AGENCY is open to negotiate with your own players. Prospal is Rangers property until free agency so I reworked a contract. Mackattack is Prospals agent.

Sonic told me to negotiate with mackattack because he is no longer Prospals agent. Look at the main thread and you will see the agents for the respective players.

So now I have to go chasing a bunch of different agents just to resign my guys?

Well, who's RFA then? I think my only people left to resign were RFA's.

I mean it's all in the main forum if you read. RFA's right now is is done by SONIC. But respective UFA's that are on your own team have agents next to their name, and if they dont they too are done by SONIC. Hope this helps.

Important to sign RFA's before tomorrow to avoid offer sheets.

Oh I read, it's just that I was told first SonicY, and then was not told different, so I assumed. I'm just used to it a little differently, no big deal.

Anyways,

Phoenix still in the market for a #1 center. We have 2 firsts this year, and tons of prospects.

Forgot about 1 of my players...

Marc-Andre Bergeron- At this point, we feel MAB has clearly established a niche for himself as a power play specialist with this season marking the 4th time he's reached double digit goals and 30+ points as a defenseman. Also worth noting is his ability to play forward when called upon as he has done with Montreal this season. At 29 years old, he is looking for a longer term contract and job security over financial compensation. He is interested in remaining with Montreal, but will entertain all offers.

The New York Rangers have waived WADE REDDEN. He has a No Trade Clause, but not a No Movement Clause, so he can be sent down. He has to pass through Waivers, though. There is a 24 hour window to see if anyone claims him. If no one does, he is officially on the farm, and will not count against the cap.

The New York Rangers have sent Brian Boyle to the minors and recalled Corey Potter. He has not played 180 games so he will not have to go through waivers.

The New York Rangers have also sent down Matt Gilroy, who also will not have to clear waivers. The Rangers have recalled Bobby Sanguinetti.

What are the waiver rules for this game? Each team could waive multiple players or only one player per team?

The New York Rangers are happy to anounce the signing fo UFA Kurtis Foster. We cannot wait to utilize Foster so he can use that booming shot.

Foster signed to a 2 yr deal.
2010-2011- 1.5 mil
2011-2012- 3.0 mil
It is a 1 way contract.

Waiver rules are a maximum of three per team. I made anyone who made a waiver request aware of this, but didn't make it obvious to everyone I suppose. Apologies.

KOVY ON THE MOVE?

Free Agency has opened in the NHL, and the biggest fish on the market, Ilya Kovalchuk, is not expected to be team-less for long. Rumor has it that Kovalchuk has already received serious interest from three teams, each of which is offering a long-term, big money deal. Kovalchuk is likely to wait until at least the end of the day to determine a destination, as he sees the offers fly in from all corners.

Toronto Maple Leafs..

have signed, UFA forward, Chris Higgins.

Former Hab, and good friend of Mike Komisarek's, Chris Higgins has signed a 4 year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs worth 6 million $ (annual cap-hit of 1.5$). Chris gives the Maple Leafs depth at the wing at a very friendly cap hit. The former Hab will look to rejuvenate his career in Toronto, which we believe he is capable of doing.
