Very nice video! Paarjarvi scored some unbelievable goals and made some amazing plays... I also never knew he was a dmen during much of his hockey career.
great video, i'm a huge MPS fan but when it comes down to it the NHL is a league of hitting...if you can't play physical then it's over you have no chance of making it in the NHL...these european leagues don't care about that stuff..i want to see how he responds with physical play..
Hello,
I watch every game with Timra here in the Swedish Elite League, and I'm a big fan of Paajarvi. Hope you'll let him stay couple of years He have exploded this season along with Lander, you guys sure have drafted like a dream hope to see
Paajarvi and Lander wearing the copper and blue in the near future!
Thanks a lot, it's much appreciated.... I already love MPS and am almost positive that he will be at least a solid first line NHL player and i've always liked Lander but i would like to know more about him, i've heard a few Lander-Zetterberg comparisons from SEL fans, is that accurate?
Very good video, thanks for stopping by! We all look forward to seeing Pääjärvi play on the Oilers soon- and I look forward to seeing him play perhaps at Sochi in 2014. Cheers, buddy. Posted via Mobile Device
Really appreciate the insight from someone who has watched him in person as much as yourself. Personally I hope they bring him along slow and give him one more year in the SEL, along with Eberle getting at least part of a year in the A. Future looks bright in Edmonton, eventually, thanks to kids like him.
I still remember when MPS made those "comments" against Canada at the World Jrs. I remember the media causing quite a storm out of it. I remember being impressed with him at the World Jrs over a stalwart such as Hedman.
I remember the draft and watching him drop to ten and was super pumped that the Oilers picked him. I remembered his comments at the World Jrs and thought, "good on the Oil for picking up a guy with swagger". In hindsight, I guess things got lost in translation.
Btw, I think he has a very good release. Did he improve his shot this year? I remember a few people being worried about his shot.

Just wanted to thank you for that video - great job. I am super pumped to have him in "the pipeline". I think seeing that video really reduced my fear that he couldn't finish (score). The goals he scores are goal scorers snipes - very impressed. I can't wait to see him on a line with Hall/Seguin.
I never knew MPS played defense, but his ability to move the puck effortlessly up ice and his ability to break up passes with that long stick, and quarterback a power play from the blueline, and finally his point shot all give me serious consideration of him moving back to the blueline. I cannot be the only one that sees the possibility of MPS being more valuable as a defender. I have thought about this many times before but this is the first time I have heard MPS say he has played the majority of his hockey as a defenseman. This is something very serious to consider IMO.
I would like to PM you a picture of my face to get some insight to my very soul... I would be willing to part with a small fee if we could keep it all confidential.

I guess so. Guys like Markov, Burns and Ericsson have done it. Then again MPS is looking like a star player at the forward position. Why put a guy who can snipe it like he can on defense? Besides from the way he described his style of play(never crossed center? I'm sure it's an exaggeration but still) he's not exactly the most polished defenseman. Why have him learn a brand new position? Not really worth even thinking about.
I am pretty sure we will see MPS with the big team next season. He is ready.
I'm on board, Liquor. I see little benefit of another season in the S.E.L. other than to put another feather in his cap and yet again up his scoring stats. In the long run, I actually believe another season in the S.E.L. might actually hinder his development. What he lacks will not be found in that league. He is physically ready. He is physically mature and his skill set is out of this world. Nobody can deny this. Size, speed and skill, he has it all. The only thing lacking in his game at this point is NHL grit and savvy, these are the things that kept him from being a sure top 5 consensus pick. There is only one place to learn that. This kid is absolutely blessed with his mobility and skill. He has to go directly to the NHL. Second line soft minutes to start, first unit power play and a penalty killing role is a must. Never forget MPS's back checking ability. For me, one of his most valuable and underrated skills is the ability to get back in the play and strip the opposition from the puck. He has exceptional defensive capabilities that go unnoticed on this board.

According to the video, MPS has played the majority of his hockey as a defenseman. I see him as a natural defenseman that can play the wing. Maybe I'm overstating this a bit, but I think it has to be considered.
MPS moves back to defense. If we draft Hall, move him to center. If we draft Seguin, put him in net.
Calamus: Well I remember watching the game and that 2 vs 1 situation comes up, I would say it takes guts to deliver a slap shot and aim like that, and score! just had to add some kind of effect

Nice video, I would say he reminds me most of Ales Hemsky...I can see him Quarterbacking the powerplay since he used to play defence..just watching him skate I was thinking "this guy skates like a defenceman" sure enough he confirmed it at the end of the video, he's got great lateral mobility....great patience...overall I would say a bigger, more defensive responsible version of Hemsky or Same size(height, not weight) but more defensive version of Jagr. Of course he is No Jagr...at least not yet...but resembles his style a bit.
As much as I'm tantalized by the video and all we hear of him, I hope the Oilers stay the course, and keep him there one more year or have him play in the A for a year. No more rushing kids.
