If they thought that was a badly officiated game... they should take my wife!

This was more Osgood falling on his face than bad reffing. Reffing is a bad excuse.

Quote:
“In a situation like that, they have their (good) players coming over every other shift,’’ Laviolette said. “You want to make sure you have the right players on the right defensive pairings, the right forwards.
“Everybody has their strengths on the team and those guys we counted on to make sure defensively we got the job done in our own end.”
Quote:
“You know when Detroit comes in your building you have to have your ‘A’ game,’’ Laperriere said. “You know they will come back, they will put pressure on you and that’s what they did. But we did a good job. Everybody tried to block shots and were physical on their good players.
“That’s what it takes at this time of year to win games. We need to win out the rest of the way. It’s good to know we can play like that.’’
Quote:
“We were skating, hitting, playing physical, creating turnovers,’’ Chris Pronger said. “When we’re playing like that, we’re very effective.’’
Quote:
“I left a few rebounds today,’’ Boucher admitted. “I mean, it’s a team effort and if you’re going to leave rebounds you need guys to help you out and clear guys, sticks. We did a good job of that today.”

Love it!

Today's game deserves a full winery! Our bi-polar team continues to amaze. Lose vs the Isles and beat the Wings.

Hopefully they carry this on to the next game.

I missed all the second period, the last 5 or so minutes of the first, and some of the third but one call I was surprised on was when both Holmstrom and Carcillo got matching minors, I thought it probably should've just been Carcillo, but I'm glad it wasn't.

On another note, the Flyers played how they are supposed to, hard hitting and hard working hockey! Obviously one cannot expect them to play that way every regular season game that would most definitely wear the team down, but I wish they played like that more frequently.

edit: Also some of you were commenting on Carle's bad play, I was looking at the game summary and interestingly Carle played a little more than Timonen. Carle played 23:43 and Timonen played 23:29.

Carle plays with Pronger at even strength, that's not too surprising

And Carle was bad today

Actually, I think that the original penalty was on Holmstrom (the whistle blew after his infraction), Carcillo just could not step away. Carcillo was pesting Holmstrom all game long.

The only non call I was surprised with- the charging by Lappy in the first- he clearly left his feet. However, the refs made it up to him later.

Other than that they let both teams play. Refs are practicing for play-offs.

Yeah Homstrom was getting called for crosschecking Carillo, but Carcillo facewashed him so he got one aswell

And it's also not surprising that you fail to see how well Carle plays most nights, including tonight.

I was at the game, twas awesome. So many damn Wings fans there though. Carcillo's goal was straight dirty but Datsyuk's snipe was absolutely insane.

Maybe we weren't watching the same game. I saw Carle play awful for 2 goals against, and get beat on an icing call because he is so god damn slow.

I like Carle, and at the start of the year he was playing great, but his play has regressed, and his cap hit is very inflated. People forget hwo Pronger made MA-Bergeron look like an NHL D man.

I thought Carle had one of his worst games of the season.

One who see Carle playing well fails to see...anything...most nights ESPECIALLY yesterday.

Obviously if you're blaming Carle for the two goals against we must've been watching a different game.

On the first Det. goal Carle and Pronger played the 2 on 2 well, then the point man shot the puck to the left of Boucher. Carle left Cleary to move to his left to take the untaken Helm coming in on RW, but Laperriere deflected the pass back in the centre of the slot where Cleary potted the rebound. If Lappy leaves it alone, it's not a problem, but the deflection back into the slot left both Carle and Pronger unable to find the puck or contain the slot.

How that's Carle's fault is beyond me, unless he's expected to have psychic powers too?

The second Detroit goal is obviously Carle's fault. If he was faster, old, slow Dan Cleary wouldn't have blown around Pronger like a pylon then beat Pronger to the puck to make a great pass to the uncovered, untaken point man Rafalski, who made a great shot that took a fluky rebound over the heads of the guys in front, including Carle, who was RIGHT in front of the net where he was supposed to be. When the puck took a funny hop off Boucher, Carle's psychic powers failed to detect where it was going to land, and his telekinetic powers failed to prevent the puck from landing right on a Wing player's stick for the goal. Man, if Carle could've only known Pronger was going to suck so bad on that play he might've been able to do something about it....

Seriously, I know you hate Carle, but you really need to give your head a shake if you're blaming him for those goals.
