Again, playoffs and draft picks aside: Beat Jersey

EDIT: By the way, a Boston win + Canes loss officially eliminates Carolina from the playoffs.

Despite what Tripp just speculated, Chip says that Gleason won't play the rest of the season (per Maurice)

Caught this on the NHL Network a few weeks ago and figured this would be an appropriate time to post it.

I won't say they haven't shown up, because they have, but they're squandering a chance to move within 4 of Boston who're losing 1-0 to Toronto.

Don't know what to make of that first period. We started with a terrible streak defensively, but survived. Then had a great streak offensively, but couldn't convert. Then we floated for the 2nd half of the period and were burned twice for it.

Tripp's homerism is starting to get to me. It's bad enough to claim that Jersey's playing poorly and Carolina's playing well when the scoreboard says differently.

But to claim that Sutter has a good chance to play in the World Championships this offseason, just...no. I love what Sutter brings to the team, but there are FAR better centers to choose from.

Why not? Dude scored 21 goals in 68 games. A lot of players also don't go for various reasons.

I don't know about "good" chance, but he has "a" chance.

Assuming Staal makes it, and Anaheim stay where they are, those are two Canadian centers that will make it.

If Philly misses, both Richards and Carter will probably make it. I'm sure there's some more I'm missing.

And Ward, that goal was terrible. For all the criticism about our recent goal-scoring, about how "every shot we seem to take goes in", that's one bad goal for the opposing team.

That should just about do any miracle chance at the playoffs. I guess that's some sort of revenge for Jersey to be proud of

Just going by the teams on the outside right now I've come up with:

Lecavalier
Stamkos
Getzlaf
Staal
Horton
Tavares

And I'm sure I missed a few. But who's to say some of these guys don't skip out to heal up (Staal?). Plus, guys like Horton can (do?) play wing anyway. There's a chance he makes it.

Horton is more of a winger anymore so scratch him off the list.

But over Sutter:
Vinny, Staal, Richards, Carter, Ribiero, Weiss

^ I forgot about Weiss and Ribeiro

It also depends if Canada wants to go with a true 4th line. Sutter can fill that roll perfectly.

Anyone notice that as soon as Jokinen and Whitney stopped producing, this team is just completely inept offensively?

Boston going to OT makes it mathematically official.

At least they've clinched a top 9 draft pick.

Staal can't go on World Championship because he plays on Olympic Games.

Same with Getlzaf.

Stamkos will go, Richards will go, and one of Lecavalier/ Weiss/ McDonald/ Tavares/ Ribeiro.
