Are you still going to try and say it wasn't dirty?
Yes, because he got a concussion doesn't make it a dirty hit.

He's our captain and he takes a boat load of hooking penalties.

This si where the NHL is going to get itself into all sorts of weird situations. They're trying to take out head shots, but then you have situations like this where people say he left himself vulnerable. You could say the same thing about any number of other plays this year that people got injured and suspensions resulted. I didn't think the hit last night was that dirty, but he did hit him a bit from behind and smashed his head into the boards. I don't envy CC for this can of worms he's opened.

Avs fans are still complaining? Seems to me like the general consensus is that it was an unfortunate play, maybe interference penalty. Just because someone got hurt doesn't mean it is dirty. Look at the Thornton thing a few games ago.

Oh, and I can't believe I've never heard the Captain Hook thing before. Absolutely genius.

Calling plays from still pictures isn't gonna do it.

I'm an Avs fan ftr, I don't think it is suspendable dirty but it was definitely warranting of a penalty. We got a make-up call later though.
Personally, I hope he doesn't get suspended, we REALLY need San Jose to beat Calgary and Rob Blake being out of the line-up certainly won't help that cause.
It's incredibly unfortunate that it had to be Mueller of all people, especially seeing as he's been dominating the Sharks and we'll probably be facing them in the 1st round. I want to see a clean fight if we play them again and some booing in the Can. Playoff hockey is always better when you hate your opponent anyways.

Actually, the stills tell the whole story. Look at Mueller's right foot. He's in the middle of changing directions and got hit at that moment. That's why he went down so awkwardly, not an elbow or a shove.

Chicago (2 pts less, 1 game in hand, tiebreak more wins) say hello.

Regardless back on topic from yours truly, yes it's rough on the Avalanche. Here's hoping he's back on the ice soon for you.

So by your logic Spacek's hit on David Booth was dirty.

Maybe a little interference but not a dirty play. I still hate Rob Blake.

your analysis is exactly why still photos dont work. you cant tell from that photo when he got hit or if he was changing directions. you cant tell what the contact was in nature. its useless.

we got some serious detectives in here. man, there's far worse "dirty hits" in the nhl than this shoulder bump. get over it, move on.

suspension and fine: no
penalty: maybe

Avs fans are looking bad here....the hit wasn't dirty. Mueller just happened to fall in awkwardly and hit his face.

It was interference, but not a hit from behind.

Even if we say it's not boarding, it's clearly interference. Blake nailed the guy before he had the puck, and it led to that players head hitting the boards, and subsequently a concussion.

Sorry folks, that's worth a game. It'll cost Mueller at least two.

I don't think Blake intetionally meant to hit him like that and it didnt even look like he hit him that hard. Mueller was already at an awkward angle. Just sucks because he was doing amazing for us.

It was a mistimed hit. It's not as if the puck was nowhere near Mueller. He skated right over it. A suspension would be based on the result and not the act.

You can see that his feet were not going in the same direction, can you not? That's all I said. You're right that everything cannot be inferred, but that much can be.

Blake just making sure the Sharks first opponent won't beat us this year.

And should have been a 5 minute penalty based on the injury he caused.

The act was interference, at the very least; that's normally a two-minute minor. In this case, the act, which usually would be a penalty, led to an injury of another player.

Even worse the refs gave him no penalty what-so-ever.

Oh no, they missed interference? That's a tragedy. I'll bet the games are fixed.

Don Cherry is right again. If bearhugging was legal Mueller would've never gotten hurt.

Once the player was hurt they should have made the call right. Stop with the because if the samething had happened to Marleau the tune of the SJS fans would be a lot difference.
