Because, the Thornton hit was legal and why would you cry if the hit was legal?

That was my retort.

You've got a Sakic AV so I'm assuming you watched hockey in the 90s and/or the early 2000s. This type of play happened all the freaking time and no one ever threw out the word "suspension". You're overreacting because it was Mueller and he got hurt, not because the hit was particularly dirty. Notice how the majority of people calling for suspensions are Avs fans, that's not a coincidence.

Hmm, the post I replied to said nothing of the legality of the hit, just that a "slightly off balance" player got helped into the boards and hurt. So umm...yeah

And for the record, Thornton was looking to receive a pass when he got hit, he did not have the puck, though the contact was right as the puck was arriving.

What ever, it's a moot point anyways.

Just asking...

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a 5-Min major for interference? Seriously, I'd think it'd be called something else like boarding, or kneeing, or roughing.

Come to think of it I think the same thing applies to a hold... even if it were a choke-hold that'd be roughing or whatever.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen it called, but it does happen.

Not suspension worthy, but it should have been a penalty.

As an aside, if you make someone bleed with a slight cut you get a double minor. Shouldn't you get a double-minor if you concuss someone through a penalty? Just sayin.

No one has mentioned that right after the hit Brandon Yip slashed Blake in the shoulder/stick and knocked it out of his hands. Is that worth a suspension? Maybe I should start a thread calling for a suspension? Maybe it should have been a major penalty and game miscounduct for attempt to injure.

Did Blake get hurt? And if Blake did get hurt, Yip should get suspended.

That's what's wrong with the NHL, they should punish the act and not the consequences.

Well, if Mueller is out for the season, you can call it karma for what Foote did to Sturm in 2004...in which he didn't get suspended and that was exponentially more dirty than what Blake did. That, arguably, had a dramatic impact on the Sharks' Cup chances that year. Losing Mueller's not going to change the Avs' fate this year, imo.

Don't make yourself look like an idiot. Sturm was San Jose's leading goal-scorer when he got hurt, and his injury was a huge blow to the Sharks.

Sturm never scored 30 goals... 8 goals in 45 playoff games...

The Avs lost Forsberg in '01 and still won the Cup, enough said.

What does this have to do with Peter Mueller or Marco Sturm?
