Tampa Bay & Montreal

To Montreal:

Lecavalier
Malone
Smith

To Tampa Bay:

Halak
Hamerlik
A. Kost
S. Kost
prospect/1st

Allows Tampa Bay to shed Lecavaliers contract (which they want) and as a result lets Pleks walk out of MTL.
The brothers for Malone is a decent swith, Tampa get younger up front and MTL gets the grit in Malone to complete the top 6.
As a favor for taking both those hits Tampa must take Hammer who only has 1 year left and could mentor Hedman.
MTL gets a decent back-up in smith if Price ever faulters. (can you tell im a Price guy?)
We can argue the prospect/pick.

My first proposal. Take it easy on me.

The only trade Habs-Tb that ive heard and that is good for both teams so far was AK+Halak+1st+Weber for Malone & 6th overall

Lightning get violated and it aint pretty

This makes more sense

To Habs
C Vinny Lecavalier

To Lightning
G Carey Price
D Roman Hamrlik
Habs 1st in 2010

Habs get franchise C

Lightning get a young goalie to be #1 longterm , A dman who although on decline is still serviceable for 1 yr and a 1st in 2010. Most importantly they clear Vinny's longterm contract

The only gain on the Tampa side of this is Halak. We need Hamrlik to mentor Hedman? Isn't that what Ohlund was partly brought in for?

No interest in Vinny's salary. We already have one awful salary, don't need another.

The Lightening chose to put themselves in a position to be violated by signing a long term deal like that with a NMC in it.

Vinny for Gomez straight up and if Yzerman wants more he can make a deal with someone else.

I'm sure the coaching staff in Montreal (Martin) would rather have Gomez than Lecavalier.

In a year, or two at the most Gomez will have an affordable or tradable contract so it is not such a bad deal for Tampa if they want to get out from under Vinnie's contract.

Damn the trade board is full of mind readers today. First I find out that St. Louis is absolutely going to walk away from Tampa and now Tampa wants to get rid of Lecavalier. FYI you should not consider the voices in Ken Campbell's head a valid source. He hasn't been right about anything Lightning related since, well ever.

Montreal doesn't do it. They don't want Vinny's contract.
