Slovenia: Six HK Jesenice players beat up coach Mike Posma
After HK Jesenice won the Slovenian hockey championship this weekend six players decided to beat up coach Mike Posma. It's considered an act of revenge as Posma and another player, both drunk, convinced the only 19 year old backup goaltender Aleksander Petrov to drive them home, although Petrov was also drunk. After Petrov dropped them at their respective homes Petrov had an accident (total loss). Petrov was not injured.
This story is getting epic proportions here in Slovenia. First the media reported that they beat him up at his home with fists, next it was while he was sleeping on a bench in front of a gas station with clubs and the last version was, that he was in a pub.
The players said they didn't do it and there have been about 8 "witnesses" with 4 different stories and Posma reported 1 attacker to the police 2 days after the reported attack.
All 6 players had been released by HK Jesenice because of the incident even thou the official investigation hasn't been completed and the evidence seems suspect.
But from what I have heard Posma had a certain reputation and there are numerous rumors about his behavior when drunk (which was a lot of the time). He wasn't really a problem by himself, the trouble started when Todd Elik joined him (yes, the San Jose one). The team had issues with them before (because of drinking and their influence on younger players), but management didn't listen to them. I doubt that either group really knows what happened, because it's probably impossible for them to remember.
