To Fail at Failing (Canes @ Bolts)

yup.. it worked so well when i started last GDT, so I decided to preemptively create a new thread.

Unfortunately, i predict we are going to win the game tonight.

Eric Cole or Ray Whitney with a natural hat trick and a 5 points night.

How could you root for the team to lose? We need to win to establish a winning attitude for next year, y'all. GO CANES RE-SIGN WHITNEY SIGN COAL TO A CONTRACT EXTENSION AND LET'S MAKE ANOTHER CUP RUN!

I'm guessing we have our work cut out for us tonight if we want to lose. What we need is a true leader like Marty St.Louis on our team. If there ever was a night to put Tripp in goal, this is it...

St. Louis Quote:

Marty St. Louis did not want this to come out wrong, but the Lightning wing said, "Sometimes when you're not going to make the playoffs, you're better off just finishing last. At least you're going to get a great draft pick."

"It's not like you're trying to lose games," St. Louis added Saturday. "You're playing the game, and whatever happens, happens, and when it's all said and done, you see where you are. But it's nice to get the best possible draft position. We wouldn't have gotten (Steven Stamkos) if we weren't in that position."

"Those draft positions sometimes can turn a franchise around."

Well, just like the JR thing, no ****. This doesn't mean he's going to go out there and play poorly or want his team to lose though. I'm sure he'd be happier scoring a hat trick than not in a 4-0 win than the other way around. This is not equivalent--at all--to cheering for your own team to lose. It's one thing to not be disappointed with a loss, as he is saying here, and it's another to outright cheer for a loss, which he is not doing here.

Martin St. Louis thinks he knows more than the CH.com/Facebook posters. He is wrong. Boychuk > Stamkos. Ladd > Ovechkin.

Mo better get the rookies some top minutes because we are for sure out of the playoffs now.

JR should have recalled Tlustly, Samson, Osala for these last 3 games. River rats are already playoff bound. Let them have these 3 games as a "tryout" with top minutes.

I don't understand how we complain that some hockey players are too "vanilla" and only speak in cliches (see Crosby, Sidney), then we complain when a guy says something borderline controversial that everybody already knows. What do we want these guys to talk about, their golf handicap?

You my friend are way behind times... We argue here for the sake of arguing regardless of how we actually feel. And yes, I want to hear about St.Louis' golf handicap!

Nice. I'm not sure how it matters anyhow. The Canes are trading their No. 1 to Toronto (apparently without regard as to what number it will be overall).

Martin St. Louis should have talked about Eric Kole's nice smile and how it makes the Hurricanes so much better.

Sadly, this may be the biggest game of the season. Who will pick first?? I'd put Tripp in net.

Simplest way to lose.

Take lots of lazy penalties and leave Stamkos alone in the high slot area for 1 timers.

They should match our kids against St. Louis and Stamkos and claim they were trying to see if they would be a successful checking unit for next season.

Just lose. No need to get tampa anymore top 3 picks. They already have stamkos and hedman they don't need hall, sequin, or fowler.

I'm kinda rooting for Crosby actually.
"Bbbuut all his points come from second assists!"

Basically I can't stand the irrational hate of the guy and want to see him continually make the critics look like the idiots they are.

Samsonov has the worst knowledge of where the blueline is I've ever seen in a hockey player. It's like he's so excited to enter the offensive zone that he can't help from going offside.

And yet he spends his time in the offensive zone just dancing along the boards.

And that's why Harrison isn't worth the time or effort. He fails to clear the puck, then tips the Stamkos shot over Legace's glove.

Not a one-timer, but the plan is going perfectly.

Harrison
