Ryan Johnson Broken Foot out 4-6 weeks

Yikes injury bug is hitting this team hard!

AV confirmed today that RJ has a broken foot from blocking a shot in the pk...4-6 weeks out or roughly the 3rd round of the playoffs!

Who do we bring up if anyone? is Bolduc still hurt?

I guess that makes our 4th line Hansen/Hordichuk-Rypien-Bernier, unless the Canucks decide to call up Bliznak.

Replaceable - Canucks have enough depth.

I would probably go with Hansen-Rypien-Bernier as my 4th line to be honest...there's no way Hordichuck should be playing in the playoffs.

how far away is Bolduc from returning? He's a better option at C than Rypien IMO. Although Hansen-Rypien-Bernier is a decent enough fourth line.

I wonder if there's any scenario in which the Canucks would bring up Cody Hodsgon (assuming Brampton is eliminated)?

Would he be an upgrade over Rick Rypien as a 4th line pivot?

As good of a guy as he is, he shouldn't be in the NHL.

He was on for ALL Minnesota's goals on Sunday night, despite playing only 12 minutes in the game.

He's one of the most frustrating offensive players in the league: no hands and no hockey sense. Yes, he blocks shots, but we have Luongo back there. I'd rather him get the rubber than Johnson.

Well Bliznak's been getting some pretty fine reviews down on the farm if all else fails. For now, I expect we'll see:

Pettinger-Rypien-Hansen or Hansen-Rypien-Bernier?

Good.

The #Canucks are 14-5-2 without Ryan Johnson, who is a -4, in the lineup. They also killed off 74 of 88 penalties without him (84%).

How does the loss of RJ affect our performance in the circle?

Stats people, I need stats!

Ryan Johnson - 537 faceoffs taken - 52.7%

Replacements
Rypien - 143 taken 42.7%
Bolduc (if recovers somehow) - 87 taken 54%

Interesting notes
Johnson is under 50% on home ice and (obviously) over 50% on the road, he is also under 50% on the PK

The AHL does not seem to keep track so no Moose stats sorry

Our team defense just got a bit better...let's just hope Bieksa gets injured now and we're set. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkyMM3EScjA

If the Canucks really want a faceoff presence, could always move Demitra to C, and Wellwood can slide down to the 4th line.

Johnson battles hard but just isn't an effective hockey player - at all.

What it means is that you'll see more of AV sending out Kesler or Henrik to take a faceoff then change.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the Sedins used on the PK a little more often. It's risk/reward because you don't want them getting hit with shots but they are good at intercepting passes and killing time. Igor Larionov used to be a great penalty killer and he never blocked shots.

Pettinger Rypien Hansen . A speedy fourth line for the play-offs to compliment the speedy second line! A good way to undo scouting is to ice a different look, no? All good.
