Is Gainey high on Garon????

The reason i ask is, because during his press confrence he talked about how Garon was great during the regular season in helping the team finish in a playoff spot. He did also mention Theo, however he was quick to point out that he could have played better in the post season.

Thanks to Bozo for this transcript.........

Question- on Garon and when he wants to be a number 1:

-BG: "It's part of our team wide evaluation. We will take time to evaluate every single one of our players"

Question- Is Theo an Untouchable.

Untouchable? he's on our team.

-What do you think he meant by that line. I didnt get the impression, "yes he is untouchable", Did you????

Personally i think BG sees something in Garon and is very high on him. Perhaps he too, like me, feels he is our future Sorry my love for Garon is sometimes very annoying. Just ignore me during these moments i have, because i cant help but feel that way.

Thoughts??

By the way for the slow, im not asking if Gainey smokes Garon

I think what he is basically saying is that, they are high on Garon and they will give him more games next year to see if he can force a trade either of Garon or Theo...Theo, as Gainey said, is a part of the team, and will remain until either his contract runs out, or Garon outplays him...anything beyond that is impossible to determine...

I think Gainey will not trade Theodore...at least not yet. I think Gainey believes that Garon is our future. Garon will get about 25-30 games this year if there is a full season. Theodore will be a Hab for another full year...at least.

Gainey is the man!

Guys another thing is....

We all know that Goalie pads will be smaller next season, right!

So would this not disadvantage Theo being a smaller goalie and covering less area??

Garon is big, so even is they do reduce his pad size, he would still cover a good portion of the net..

I think he is high on both Garon and Theodore. IMO he is letting everyone know that Garon will probably play a bigger role on this team next year by getting more games.

If Garon was to step up and to compete for the 1st string job and shows he is capable of handling it I'm sure Gainey would get some inquires on his goaltenders (probably already does). If all that were to happen the team always try to dump the higher salary and we know who owns that one and he would get more in return in trade anyways at this stage in both of their careers.

Garon is good to keep so that next time Theodore (next year, i believe) wants to renegoitiate his contract, he can't threaten a hold-out because Garon could easily replace him.

Pssst guys, I'm Gainey's dealer. I got some good cheap Garon stuff. You get a very consistent high night in night out. Much better than the overpriced Theo stuff you can get everywhere. That stuff is nasty. Lemme know if you're interested.

I think I'll leave now so that the IQ of this board can go back up to the 2 digits again

Theo would not be affected by this, his pads are already probably smallest pads in nhl He wont even have to shorten them

I think that Garon could and should be our no.1 goalie. Theodore is no more untouchable, he proved us that he's not as consistent as Brodeur, Luongo and co.

On the other hand, Garon has all what it takes to be our future starter. Size, speed and positioning.

I get the same feeling, but like many said here, Garon will probably get his chance too outplay Theo next season (and he will imo)

He already did this year with his Regular season numbers, although he obvioulsy played less games. 30+ games should give Gainey an idea of what he is made of!

I listened to Bob Gainey's interview on CKAC yesterday and I, as well, got the distinct feeling that BG was not totally sold on Theo.

When asked the question about his two goalies, he felt the need to bring up the importance of the decision to sign young Danis. What an amazing statement.

The HABS have to few current assets they can afford to trade and remain strong at that position. Goaltending happens to be one of those.

I would take the risk and shop him around.

When asked the question Bob Hartley, stated that there would easily be 20 teams knocking at the HABS door.

We must however avoid another Roy Trade. We need to get something sweet in return.

I got the same feeling, but now is not the time to trade Theo. Let both play equal amount of games next season too decide.

Me thinks Theodore better be good in both the regular season and the playoffs because I don't see Julien having the same patience with him next season. I'm sure that Julien remembers well what Garon did for him in Hamilton and last season in Mtl.
