How do we match up? Who would you rather play?

Might as well start talking about it. I do believe the Avs will find a way to make it into the playoffs.

San Jose for me.

Thornton, Marleau, Heatley, Nabokov have all had questions raised about their playoff performances. Their choking is a proven fact, something the Blackhawks do not have. They're actually hungry to go further and I don't like the speed of their transition game against our slow D.

So, yeah, I'll take the Sharks.

I can't quite tell who I'd rather play. The games with Chicago have been really fun and exciting this season, so I feel like even if we got murdered, it'd be interesting.

Neither have all that great of goalies, so I feel like we would be well suited to take advantage of both teams.

I think we'd have a chance against either. But who knows. And who's to say we don't face Vancouver. I think we could still get as high as number six.

I picked Chicago for a few reasons...

1) I like watching Chicago play...I love watching Keith play

2) All of our games with Chicago are close - usually shootouts - so I think we would have a good chance of at least making it a competitive series

3) San Jose's size seems to slow us down for some reason. But when we play Chicago, both teams tend to play the same tempo.

Call me crazy, but I like both match-ups better than playing Vancouver, LA, or Nashville, simply based of Colorado's performances against them this season.

With San Jose, you have a team who's going to have a ton of pressure on them, and also a team Colorado has played well against this season. With Chicago, you have a team who Anderson bailed Colorado out against, but their goaltending is so shaky that one weak goal could turn the tide.

I'd rather the avs miss the playoffs and get a better draft pick, I mean they aren't going to win the cup.

This is me too. I love watching Chicago play, and we both have amazing speed, so the games are really fast tempo.

Just great games all around.

I'd much rather play the Sharks. I would rather play the Sharks more even compared to teams like the Hawks, Wings, Nucks and likely even the Kings.

great attitude if your going to miss the playoffs, at least do it right, and be near the bottom...

the difference between picking 13 or 17th isn't that huge, and there have been tons of players picked later in the draft that have turned out to be amazing...

I'd rather give our young guys like Duchenne, Mueller and Stewart (who have never played in the playoffs before) some very important experience to play in the Playoffs for the first time.

Definitely glad it looks like we are playing the Sharks, I think the Hawks would simply pump the **** out of us.

It'll be a short post-season either way but San Jose.

Just curious but why? You're pretty confident San Jose has a lot of weaknesses against us?

I think the Avs have a better chance at beating the Sharks. I would guess the Avs win one series in four against them.

Chicago. They have a young an inexperienced team. Their goaltending is questionable. Plus, the Avs don't match up well against San Jose's size. The Sharks have also been beating the Avs in the playoffs more recently. Having said that, I'm not sure Colorado could take out either team anyway. So, it's just really time to enjoy some playoff hockey again. Hopefully, the Avs can be somewhat competitive. I also think that Anderson might start to play better now that the pressure is completely off the Avalanche with them making the playoffs.

held of voting til now to avoid the jinx.

i've been saying for a while that we're actually in a good position as i think we match up best against chicago or san jose more than any other western teams

that being said, i'd much rather take san jose

chicago is much deeper IMO with almost 4 lines that can score, 3 for sure.. there D is amazing when healthy and their only weakness is goaltending.. if niemi can be solid like he has been lately chicago will go far ala osgood and the wings

san jose are choke artists and as said their star players don't play like it in the playoffs.. chicago was a young team last year who made it to the conference finals.. i can actually see us beating san jose if we are healthy.. i feel like the kids will be re-energized

just please.. NO MORE INJURIES!

Actually we are more experienced this year

Hossa + Madden = Alot of playoff experience

And Niemi has been amazing since Huet lost his job

Just some of my thoughts as a Hawks fan coming thru this thread

San Jose...

NHL wants to see Chicago go far so they will do everything to make that happen...

I want to play against...

The Hawks. First off, their goaltending is questionable. I know nabakov is a choker, but I'd still rather play against the Hawks goalies.

Also, we really suck against big forwards. I like the way we match up against chicago's forwards.

They fit out strengths better. A big, physical team would probably destroy us. I want to face the Hawks.

Now that we`ve clinched what kind of result would satisfy you guys in the playoffs? honestly for me if we can bring the other team to 7 games or win it, that would be a great season, even if this is already a great season considering the expectations i had going into it

Loool I can't belive you guys took my post seriously. That's what some other poster were saying and I was saying I'd rather make the playoffs and get swept in the first round.

I say Chicago based on the fact that I find them more intimidating than the Sharks in a playoff setting . If we beat them, we'd have beaten a team that went to the WC Finals last season and is one of the best teams in the league. That would show the true strength of this team and, in finishing them, could potentially put us on a slightly easier path than if we were to face San Jose first.

Greatest chance to win is San Jose, but Chicago would be a epic series. (Though I see us losing)

Gimme either. If the young guys are fired up and flying, the D is at least passably solid, and Andy plays like early-season-Andy, it's going to be one fun ride.
