As for Miller, how is it that he's the team's unsung hero. Seem's he's getting a lot of singing for a guy who is supposedly unsung, especially since he's far from being a hero on the hockey rink.

I'd say this about Miller: He's been pretty good for a waiver wire pickup.
Everyone else has been sung, so Miller to me is one of those guys that without him I don't think our bottom 6 would've been this good.

Team MVP: Jimmy, easy
Best Forward: Datsyuk
Best Defenseman: Lidstrom
Best Defensive Forward: Datsyuk
Rookie of the Year: Jimmy
Best Goaltender: Jimmy
Biggest Disappointment: Dunno why people are saying Williams. When we signed him it didn't sound like anyone expected anything from him. Easily Osgood or Leino for this one.
Biggest Surprise: Jimmy
Best Free Agent Signing: Eaves
Worst Free Agent Signing: Williams
Best Transaction: Leino for not-Leino
Most Improved Player: Jimmy
Ideal Addition: Bob Probert
Better Off Elsewhere: Bertuzzi, yea he almost made me start liking him with a pretty awesome stretch, but I can do without his bad turnovers and offensive zone penalties
Unsung hero: Anyone I'd consider a hero has already been sung to my satisfaction
Most promising Prospect in the organization: Eaves
Best bang for the buck: Eaves

I think he's been VERY good for a waiver wire pickup (which is pretty obvious if you look at my "awards").

He has 10 goals, 19pts. and is a +5 in 63 games. His numbers aren't mind-blowing but he seems to create chances whenever he has the puck in the oppositions zone. He's also good skater and is very good on the PK. People have been lumping Eaves and Miller together all season but I think since the Olympics, Miller has really stepped it up and looks like a very legit 3rd liner on a pretty deep team.

Edit: Just looked at Eaves stats, and to my surprise they are very similar to Miller's (Eaves is slightly better with 11g 21pts). Almost Sedin-esque.

He might be our best "energy line" forward. But there's no way in hell he's our best defensive forward. He's not even in the top 5, IMO.

Doesn't Helm kill penalties too?

Yep, but PK defense is a lot simpler than 5v5 defense. Helm has a lot of work to do on the latter.

So, one man short makes it simpler?

Hes top5 Z, Dats, Eaves, Cleary and Helm.

Helm leads forward with blocked shots, top 3 in hits, few giveaways, only z and dats has more take aways, over 50% faceoff wins, and only -4... Dont know what else you want him to do...

Yes. Defensive schemes on the PK are inherently more simple. It's more difficult to prevent a goal, of course, but the assignments are more basic. And less experienced players (i.e. Helm) are often more likely to be more careless when it's 5v5. Helm follows his assignment well on the PK, but he often gets lost in his own zone when the opposition has extended possession during 5v5 play.

You forgot Filppula. And Franzen. And Miller. I'd put Helm at 8th, defensively. Helm will get there, no reason he can't climb that list as he continues to develop. As far as energy players, I put him at #1.
