A Question About An Asset

Who is our most tradeable asset whether player or prospect who is not:

Kaberle (he is #1)
Kessel
Phaneuf
Kadri
Schenn
Bozak
Stalberg
Monster
Gunnarsson
Kulemin

I feel this player could and/or should be used to acquire a pick whether in a deal with Kabs or without him (only if the deal makes sense).

Edit: I forgot about Kulemin

I'd say Stalberg is probably the most tradable.... Bozak is for sure sticking around ATLEAST until next season and Gunnarsson has shown that he's special. Monster isn't getting traded he's going to become our number 1. Kaberle is probably good as gone . People are crazy if they think Kuli or Schenn are going anywhere

Don't think it is a black and white question. Given the salary cap, budgets etc. higher priced players although more talented may not fetch the value they deserve. (i.e. Phaneuf). Also the other 29 teams have specific needs and therefore may not be interested in Phaneuf but very interested in Bozak for example.

In a perfect world with no salary cap and no budget issues I believe that Phaneuf Kessel and Kadri would be head over heels ahead of the rest.

Very surprsied Kulemin is not on the list.

If you're talking about most trade-able in the sense that they would bring back the greatest return, then that player is Schenn. If you're talking about which player could be traded causing the least damage to our team then it's Stalberg.

Why the heck would we want to trade any of those you listed for a pick??? Seems very backward thinking to me.

define tradeable?

the person we are most likely to trade, the person other teams covet the most, the person that we would want to trade the most?

I think he's asking which player on the Leafs is wrth the most after the players listed. In that case I'd probably say Komi.

For example, Grabovski. Personally, I do not feel he has a spot on this team. He is not complete enough to be a top 6 centre (not saying you need to be complete, but if you are going to be one dimensional, you better be scoring far more than he is). He is definately not a bottom 6 guy either. Trading to a team with a different set up than Burke who would want Grabovski could give us a pick (or prospect) who would be more suited to Burke's plan and we could develop to be exactly what we want.

Basically, I am asking, what asset (that is not on the list) could be a difference maker in making or breaking a deal. What if we have a deal involving Kabs and the other GM says I will do the deal if you add... Do we have someone on the team or in the system (not on the list) who could make a difference in a trade.

Example: Kaberle to ___ for the 13th Pick and ___. If we add asset would this help make the deal happen.

or Kaberle to ___ for the 13th pick and ___. Could we get a different deal of say Kaberle and asset for the 10th pick and ____.

i don't think too many teams would go after Phaneuf and his giant cap hit. he wouldn't be considered a salary dump obviously...but i don't think he's as valued around the league as some might think. not right now anyways.

in terms of what we could get back in deal, i'd rank our players with the biggest trade value like this (top 5):

Phil Kessel
Tomas Kaberle
Luke Schenn
Nazem Kadri
Jonas Gustavsson

Kulemin and Bozak might get good offers as well, if they were available.

Very reluctantly....only because he could possibly return us a sub 24 potential elite forward......e.g. Bobby Ryan, Chris Stewart, Brandon Sutter....unless its a deal for a equal value forward, we keep him...

Mike Komisarek & Nazem Kadri.

One we don't need, one we'd be lucky to find a team who would think as highly of him as fans on this board do.

Kadri is not going anywhere. And while I agree that we don't need Komisarek, I think he's safe too because of the fact that he is a leader and will stand up for his teammates (something we all know Burke loves) and the Leafs are going to give him a fair chance. He missed a huge chunk of the season with injury. They're both safe.

So another season has come to an end, watching this team after the trade dead line has proven that we'll be better come next season, so dont worry fellow leafers

The sun will rise again and the buds will turn it around and continue to flourish for seasons to come..

Sure Could Use A Little Good News Today

In rebutal to the trash talking Toronto Sun thread, thought the glass half full guys should have some print as well.

DiManno: Leafs GM Brian Burke laments lost season

It is a few hours before game time, final outing of a season that will end as it started, against the rival Canadiens, the Leafs this time doing their darndest to thwart Montreal’s knife-edge playoff hopes. But Toronto, as Burke acknowledges, has been running on fumes through this last week of the schedule, after some decent — if nowhere-bound — hockey since the Olympic break.

“We’re completely out of gas,” said Burke. “I watch these players walking into the rink, getting on the bus, and I see a tired group of athletes. First-year pros don’t know how to pace themselves for 82 games. These college kids all hit the college wall. Tyler Bozak looks like he hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in a month.”

Call-up Brent to play

We’re rewarding him,” said coach Ron Wilson. “We had one call-up left and we’re using it.”
