Scotty Bowman.....???

I keep hearing people refering to Scotty Bowman talking about the canadiens....

"They have one of the best blue lines in the league..."
Things like that....
Does anyone know where these quotes are coming from?
link to an article maybe???

A lot of the quotes came from Pednault on RDS who talked to Bowman during an intermission off the air.

I hope hes talking of our future blue line, because i would seriously question his hockey knowledge if he was speaking of our current blue line. The same one that made so many mistakes during the playoffs....

I think one of the most amazing 'statistics' not only in hockey, but in any sport for that matter is that Scotty Bowman, coach over 5 different decades, was never once fired. Think about it- just unbelievable.

Not as a coach but as a GM he was ... in Buffalo I think.

I can't see any contention with the above. Our top six has to rank in the top half dozen in the league.

Of anyone employed in hockey, he is so far ahead of everyone else in terms of knowledge, intelligence and understanding of the game, that the next person isn't even close. When they have this counsel of experts to discuss the state of the game this summer, the rest of them should just bring notebooks and recorders and listen. If Bettman was to ask Scotty to address whatever ails hockey at the NHL level, he'd save a lot of committee expense.

He said something along the lines of "They have a very underrated blue line" and he did that in a CBC broadcast before the season ended. At that point our defense was doing great.

And every mistake is magnified 1000x.

With Rivet, Quintal and Souray mostly healthy all year, we had one of the best bluelines in the league, compared to 2002-03. IMO only NJ (with Stevens) and Ottawa were scary better.

How bout Detriot?, SJ is also very underated. Calgary has a great Corps as well (very physical)??

Id say all these teams above are better as of right now.

"i would seriously question his hockey knowledge"

You're too good a poster to question Scotty Bowman's hockey knowledge.

Don't let it happen again.

Bowman also had good words for Claude Julien last season.

It all bodes well for our future....

Bowman looks at relative value, and is why he can find talent that many a fan says is rubbish. He can decipher utility in players as well as anyone, and he's the ultimate pro scout in hockey. What a guy like Bowman, and for that matter, lemaire show, is that when coached wll, D thought of as marginal can do the job with quiet fanfare.Lemaire took a porous NJ D back in 1993 and in 12 mos had them acting like champs.Jacques Martin has done that in Ottawa.Bowman, of course, everyone knows about....
