Mathias Tjärnqvist was a surprise pick. I wonder how Hardy has planned to use him?
Nice to see Sweden go with a big roster though, will be a lot of competition on the practices, anyone know how many players there can be on the active roster?
Our defense looks questionable. Who's gonna clear the crease?
Lilja should be in over Tomas Johansson. But is Lilja healthy btw?
The rest of the team looks ok.

Thärnqvist is a former Djurgården player, that's how Hardy plan to use him.
I could easily swap a few players in this squad but I'm not going to complain too much because it won't help anyone. But seriously, Thomas Johansson???
Mats_Hallin,
I agree that there is missing a defensive defenseman (or a stay-at-home defenseman if you prefer). A player like Mattias Norström, or Mattias Öhlund.. who is also skilled offensively but does a great job at D. Färjestad's Jonas Frögren would have been that player, but then again he is rather unexperienced and will have to wait to next year .
Ronnie Sundin is probably the closest thing we got to a Norström. Usually I'm very confident when he is on the ice, but he hasn't been as good this season.. compared to last year when he was just excellent.

He hasn't been close to be as good as last season. Last season he was NHL material, now he's nothing more than a average SEL player (maybe a little harsh, but still). IMO Frögren would be a better choice, Tre Kronor would gain much more if Frögren played this year and had the experience next WC. Instead he has to gain experience next WC and maybe we have to wait yet another year for him to be a better international d-man (the EHCL-squads are not always very good as we all know). Someone we can build our defense around when older players retire. But I would much rather see Johansson go though...
Sweden must select at least 17 players (2 goalies) for the first game and 23 at most. Axelsson, Nylander and Alfredsson won't play this game.
My choice:
Goalies: Lundqvist, Liv
Defense: Tärnström, Hävelid, Rhodin, Tjärnqvist, Bäckman, Hållberg
Offense: Jönsson, Höglund, A Johansson, Påhlsson, Hedström, Salomonsson, Franzen, Davidsson, Sjöström
Another forward will probably be selected as we won't go with just 9, maybe Mathias Tjärnqvist will get the chance. Then there is 4 spots open for skaters, three reserved for Axelsson, Nylander and Alfredsson and one for injuries.
Can't see Andersson and Kahnberg grab a spot here. Franzen is a wild card, and he always does his job.

I would get rid of Höglund right away. OK, he has a good shot, he is an OK passer and he works hard but I feel sick when I see him play. By the looks of him and his size you would think that he would be some kind of instigator or tough guy, but I don't think I have EVER seen him give a proper hit. What kind of attitude does that spread around the team when a huge guy like that act like that on the ice?

Since Höglund is on the roster already who would you replace him with, Kahnberg, Nilsson or Andersson?
I like Zetterberg a lot, but if I could choose two players for this WC team it would be Lidström and Holmström. They can get the PP going, which is the weakest point on this team. Zetterberg would certinly also help, but Lidström/Holmström would be better fits for this team IMO.
If they were positive to play, and have no injuries, wich two of these would you see in the lineup; Lidström, Zetterberg and/or Holmström?
