Yea, 6.5 superskilled centerman don't grow on trees. It may be a while till we see someone like him around these parts again.

It's shame 98% of the fanbase was trying to shove the guy out of town. Now we see what he really meant to this team.

traitor my butt... the guy worked his butt off every single night handling 20 minutes a night in his late 30's on pk's, pp's, even strength and the final minute of every game. he was a workhorse and i havent seen anyone work that hard since he's left. i still remember the game where he shoved the referee in at the san jose game. He was absolutely dead tired working his butt of to tie the game cbc agreed. wish we had someone like him. now our team is partially shaping out and we have a sniper who will be around for a while but no legit centreman to go with him. traitor yea right... carried the team on his shoulders for years and they did nothing but bring in veterans and more veterans... dont get me wrong the veterans were great to have around.... but it made no sense. bring him back for one more year and he could easily put up 50 points and lead the team in points too... kessel doesnt get assists... sundin scored 30 goals and put up 40 assists

Kessel had 25 assists to go with the 30 goals.

Could not agree more. Sundin was the man!

We have no one even close to him right now.

Burke has lots of work to do this summer. He needs to land Kovalchuk or something of that status this summer. This team is in major need of a star player.

You guys are just selfish fans, Who cared more about the return for Sundin than the man himself.

The thing I'm looking to most for next season is seeing his number raised to the rafters at the ACC... greatest Leaf EVER, and my fav player till the day he retired.

I agree to this. He was a dominant leader here in Toronto. I don't know if we will ever have a Captain like Mats again.

It's that kind of mentality that gets us NOWHERE.

We don't need to get someone like him

We need him

Bring back Sundin Burke.

Let him center Kessel next year.

Mats Sundin put the emergency brake on a franchise re-build.

Had he not been so selfish and agreed to waive, that first rounder probably would be playing for the Leafs today. And remember, the 2008 draft was pretty well stocked.

What he should have done was agree to a trade, I bet Fletcher would have given him a gentleman's agreement to bring him back.

But he chose the "it's all about the journey" route b.s.

Then he holds 4 NHL teams in handcuffs, before signing with Vancouver in December for millions of dollars.

What journey are you talking about Mats?

QFT.

PS. Mats might be talking about the journey to the final table on pokerstars.

: He did more for this team in one season than that first round pick ever would have done. Nemisz? Del Zotto? I'd rather see our captain treated with some respect then have him shipped off for that.
