Brind'amour's line starts. Foreshadowing?

Harrison takes a penalty 11 seconds in.

What was the "complicated transaction" Forslund was talking about?

The Bowman thing I mentioned earlier. He didn't really elaborate.

Brindy's parents are there. I'm willing to bet he's done here whether he's ready or not.

With Pitkanen out McBain led all players (both teams) in ice time by a good 2 minutes.

Ah, a TSN ad for the draft lottery in the midst of a Hurricanes game.

Tuesday, apparently.

Staal's last 3 goals have been the kind I have been waiting for him to get. Good shots or followups. Not flukes.

One of the nicest, if not the nicest, goals by a Cane this season. Beauty by Rosie.

That would've been a penalty shot if he didn't score.

This has probably been the most frustrating season I've ever watched of this team. Every single game they needed to win when there was still a chance at the playoffs they've lost. Every game they needed to lose they've won. Now both Florida and and Tampa will pick before us. I suppose I should be happy we picked up some extra seconds. Hopefully this momentum will continue till next year.

I actually start to do work while watching and Gionta scores. I should do less work.

Actually, I can't. I need to have a pile of case briefs done tomorrow....

"Needed to lose"? They don't "need to lose" any games.

In any case, it was very likely that they'd pick after those two teams anyway. The only real toss-up at this point are the Islanders, who are losing too.

Get used to it. As I mentioned in some of the Carolina streak threads on the main board, if there's any team capable of going on a tear and making the playoffs and winning the cup, it's the Canes, and if there's any team that can charge back and fall just short in a heartbreaking way, it's also the Canes.

We're a streaky team, and have been for a while. I suspect it has to do with age and the corresponding changes in the health of the team as a whole, but I really don't know why it is. But in the seasons where our winning streaks are a little longer and the losing ones a little shorter, we go far. We also win or lose with little in between. We're good, or we suck, which means not a lot of OT losses and not a lot of those points, and the current point system penalizes that. Any other point system but the one the NHL uses we make the playoffs every year since winning the cup (exception of this year, of course), and most of those systems have us highly seeded.

So whoever winds up sitting near Bettman at the ASG, bug him about the point system. Advocate a 3-2-1.
