Staal with a hand in all 5 goals with the hattie. 9 points in his last 2 games.

6th draft pick at best without winning the lottery, 2nd if they win. No Taylor Hall in Carolina in all likelihood.

Whatever happens, happens. I'd love for a top 2 pick (maybe JR with throw the kitchen sink to get it to reward the fans but not likley ) I'm happy with whoever we get, a top 10 pick will be good no matter what. At least the team didn't crap out at the end like others after a 14 game losing streak.

Finland - Allstar game - Playoffs next year

Well, if he consistently sucked he wouldn't be inconsistent, now would he?

I agree with all of this. As much as they could have used a guy like Hall/Seguin/Fowler, I love the fact that they didn't quit on the season and borderline tank like Tampa has been lately (blown 3 goal lead vs. Ottawa tonight). Makes me love the team even more.

I've got higher expectations than most for next year, but then again I did for this year too.

Jamie McBain's play has been the real story in the final 13 games. We knew what we had with a lot of these guys, Staal included. We knew he had these kind of games in him. What we didn't know was that McBain was ready for Top 4 minutes and could produce like this offensively this soon. What an absolute rock solid debut.

Why does it always seem like Staal has a hattrick on hat night? That's at least two that he's done since the lockout and I want to say he had a 3rd on a hat night.

And I'll fully admit to being wrong about McBain. I knew he had big potential but I thought he needed another year in the AHL before he was ready. Well he's certainly gone out and shut me up in a big way. We'll see if he can do it for a full season next year, but he has to be one of the favorites for the Calder heading into next season. Hell, with Myers this year and McBain, Subban and Shattenkirk next year there's a good chance you have back to back Calders to defensemen.

.
why does it always seem like Staal gets hat tricks on empty netters.....could have had another one the other night.

oh, and btw....in addition to Staal's 9 points in 2 games, LaRose has 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in the same 2 games.

Larose has 18 points in his last 20 games. Not too bad for an overpaid, useless career fourth liner

If he hadn't sleepwalked through the start of the season, he could have had a 40-50 point year. I like Rosie, I really do, but his play at the start of the year was as indefensible as his play now is irrefutable.

remember, that he was playing through the pain and the injury for a long period of time at the beginning of the season. His game was on a totally different level after Canes shut him down mid season and he came back healthy.

As Pierre McGuire put it - "Jamie McBain, the legend continues".

Gotta wonder if this was Brindy's last game at the RBC.

Steady. About the only play I overly noticed of his is where he played it safe and let the puck get cleared from the Montreal zone instead of pinching to keep it in. Not necessarily a bad choice. His skating still isn't where it was pre-injury but that's to be expected.

According to some here, he can't skate, or pass, and there's at least 50 AHLers who could fill his role because any success he has is owed to who he plays with and nothing he does himself. This is because he wasn't...you know...picked, and after all, it's all about the picks.

Can anyone put the LaRose goal on YouTube? By far one of the best goals of the year.

To lift the puck on your backhand while you're falling like that, unbelievably difficult.

As badly as we needed to give up the points, that was one amazing game to be at. It felt really, really good to be able to walk away with a win for our last home game of the season. A+ shout out to the crowd. It was incredible for a game that meant essentially nothing to us. I despise summer and am ready for October next week...
