I started the thread cause Guy Boucher just got a prestigious award for a rookie head coach in the AHL, this week. If some of you don't like it, you can always ignore it instead of putting a couple of wise ass pics or stupid comments.

Returning to the topic at hand.

Okay, whatever, that guy would be a fine choice to replace Jacques Lemaire in the summer of 2011.

And, until that point, the umpteen "Fire JL" posts remain foolish, impossible dreaming.

Interesting. We know how much Lou loves his Montreal connection. I don't think this guy would displace Lemaire, but if he is still available the next time we have a vacancy, I can see him being an option.

I think it's because Boucher was a coach in the Q that he saw a lot. Might have been with Moncton, I can't remember. But I know for sure that Jason said it. He also said Sutter when we brought him in, so Mac is good when it comes to coach choices.

When we were in the hunt for a head coach last summer, Guy Boucher was on top of my wishlist. Now that he's in the AHL, it's almost a foregone conclusion that he'll end up in the bigs in a couple of years.

There's no better option for us cause he's a good defensive coach and can run a PP like no other. Sounds like a match made in heaven for us... only time will tell.

P.S. I'd rather see GB over Johnny Mac even if I like the guy to death.

That involved a general manager that Lou is on extremely good terms with. I never thought we were against the odds for getting him. It was just highly unlikely.

But this is something different entirely. Maybe he has a major man crush on Marty, but more likely he's waiting for Jacques Martin to get fired.

Guy Boucher coached Drummondville for 3 years and led them to their first championship in 28 years. He was also a assistant coach for two gold medals at the WJC and just won the coach of the year award in his first stint in the AHL.

This guy has talent written all over him.

Drummondville, that's right. I knew it was in the Q.

I don't know. Johnny Mac as done a good job in Lowell. Lemaire still has another year left on his contract. If he get's let go because we don't go deep enough, I think J. Mac deserves a shot.

If Johnny Mac gets passed over again, he might lose it.

(Likely) 100 points and Division Championship.

Lemaire has a lot of explaining to do.

I think NJD possesses one of the very best coaches in the business, but regardless, I have a question:

Down the road, is there a hint either way whether or not Scott Stevens would be interested in being a head coach?

A hint, but I think he's happy being an assistant. I'm not sure he'd make a good head coach, but he will make an excellent assistant.

Forget about him, he's Habs property

But seriously he's the heir apparant to Jacques Martin who likely won't finish his contract, coaches rarely do. Boucher is young and he can wait a year or two before coaching the Habs. He'll then be able to step in the NHL with some authority (important for a recruit, non ex-NHL player) since he'll have coached a lot of the young Habs players like Subban, Pacioretty, Maxwell, Kostitsyn, and eventually Leblanc ect. and will be respected by the players.

Ok I'm done trolling your boards.
Just kidding, have a nice day NJ, and please don't play agaisnt us in the first round! Thanks!
