So if Couture plays for the rest of the season, he won't be eligible as a Calder candidate for next season would he?

2 more gives him 25. If I am correct about the language, the issue is more than 25. That means eligible . . . barely.

Oh, heh, mistake by me. Here I still thought the Sharks had 3 games left.

Playoff games don't count?

He will be considered a rookie next year. The language is 25 or more. He'll sit at 25.

However, there is an or in the language that says 26 or more in the previous two seasons.

Coulda sworn I heard Dan Rusanowsky say during the Flames game that if Juicy finished this season up with the team, he would miss eligibility by one game.

It's an easy mistake to make. One criteria is having played fewer than 25 games the previous year. Logan Couture will finish the season with 25 games. However, there is a second criteria that is 26 or fewer games in the previous two seasons. He will qualify for the latter...he wouldn't for the prior. To qualify as a rookie, it's either or.

We could. Couture wore 9 and that's available. Demers wore 5 and that's available. McGinn though would be a different story. He wears 44 in Worcester and that's not going to be available. He wore 89 in Ottawa so that could be a possibility but it's not generally accepted for Sharks to wear those high numbers regularly. I know Korolyuk wore 94 for a while but he's more the exception.
