Something Norton. Jim? Ed?

Either way, the "Woo" is a sample sound bite- not performed live.

I know, but it sounds like a different guy the past few games altogether.

Was thinking the same thing - no need for a whoo guy - the Bruins don't score.

Source ? . . . link ? . . .

They must have 100 different sound-bites then, because they all sound different.

The "woo" is a recording, I was at a game last year where the PA guy was announcing the goal, and someone hit the button by accident and there was a "WOO" in the middle of his sentence, may have been one or two in a row actually. :biglaugh

I don't know if the recording they use is of Ric Flair himself, but he definitely popularized the "woo," this isn't a Bruin innovation.

His name is Jim Martin I believe. I also think he's the Pawsox PA announcer and tonight is their opening night. Best guess.

Wasn't saying it's not a recording, just a guess as to why there's a different PA guy tonight.

My friend's family has season tickets right behind the penalty boxes and the PA announcer, so I get to sit there often. You will see the PA announcer press the microphone button to do the announcement, then he presses a little button hanging on the bottom of the table to play the WOOO recording, sad but true

It's just a ridiculous premise.
First, that a professional announcer would be incapable of saying "Wooo".
Second, that it sounds different every time. Especially if the B's score a huge goal.
Third, that the B's would be sending residual checks to Ric Flair's double-wide every time they pushed the button.
This year he must be eating cold beans out of the can.

Wow . . . that was weird.
The "Wooo" on Chara's goal sounded nothing like their really subdued first one.

How many buttons they got ?
