how do you pronounce his last name?

i always thought it was

s-ah-preh-kin

but the espn guys say

suh-pri-kin

NHL Guide says sah-PRIH-kihn.

EDIT: Although now that I think about it, if I remember my Russian right the fact that the first "a" isn't stressed means it ought to be pronounced "suh".

I am Russian too.

It's not -ee- or -i- sound.

This is how this last name looks in Russian: CanpblkuH (H should be smaller)

There is letter bl in Russian that doesn't really have an equivalent in English.

It kind off sounds like A in R[A]RE or SH[A]RE.

yeah

then it's actually impronounceable in english


The only way to describe it is picture the way A changes from "Bake" to "Share" - u kind of clench your jaw more.
bl changes the same way but for the ee sound - from "Bill" to "B bl ll".
