Do you want Girardi back?

For the right price do you want Girardi back? For the money he will get, I believe around 2.5 million he is definitely worth it. He eats up a lot of minutes and is always playing against the other teams top players. He is only 26 i think? I hope is apart of our future. ( and no this isn't a love for girardi thread because he pounded hartnell, i've been advocating to bring him back for a while)

Yes, the guy is a 25 y/o 2nd pairing defensman. They don't grow on trees.

It's a tough question, it's all down to consistency with Girardi. He's been playing well since the Olympic Break, but can he sutain this kind of play on a full schedule? Hm... For the right price, why not. I don't know...

His beating of Hartnell was unbelievable...

For the ice time he averages, the quality of the players he goes up against every night, and his age I believe he is apart of our future. Especially seeing erikson being called up over sangs this year, that certainly says something about sangs that hes nothing special

Just because he is on the Rangers 2nd pairing, does not make him a second pairing defenseman.

Logical Fallacies be damned.

Yes, because who else is going to play defense for us?

He is actually the Rangers 2nd best defenseman. He plays over 20 minutes a night consistently, he hits, he blocks shots and he is very healthy. If you don't think Girardi is a 2nd pairing defenseman I am not sure what you would classify one as.

Actually it says that you don't read, Anders Eriksson was called up because he has over 550 games of NHL experience. Why would you call up a 21-22 year old if you want a more experienced blue line.

It doesn't indicate that at all.

All it says is that they wanted a veteran to play during the stretch run. That's why Eriksson playing over Gilroy right now. It's pointless to call up a rookie to replace another rookie.

Yes, he plays very well against other team's best players nightly, but only for the right price.

He plays 20 minutes a night because who else is going to. He can not rightly be described as a two-way defenseman and there for his defensive zone work is sub par for a stay-at-home. And having a high number of hits means jack *****. I can't count the number of times he gets out muscled in his own zone or passes up hitting someone.

I think the call up of Eriksson has nothing to do with Sanguinetti. We just needed a capable Dman to seal the bottom pair during the stretch. We didn't have time to be patient with another rookie like Sangs. Eriksson, despite not being flashy, is capable to play 10-15 minutes with no difficulties. Something Gilroy was no more able to do. Sanguinetti would have probably needed time to adjust but I doubt the call up of Eriksson is directly linked to his development.

I would definitely trust what Zip is writing and not what the coaches are saying. But you are probably one of those people who hates Torts with an undying passion. There are so few of us now that don't

I really need to stop forgetting this. This is a Rangers board, apparently a few good games can erase from memory an absolutely horrible season. Girardi was probably the worst Rangers defenseman until he was returned to Marc Staal's pairing. Its easy to look good when you have one of the best shutdown defenseman in the league on the ice with you.

Yes. Price tag should be good for a guy who does what he does.

He can be described as a 2-way defenseman. Do you watch other NHL teams play? Of course a defenseman loses some battles. Even Pronger gets beaten every now and then, it doesnt mean they are useless.

He doesn't take himself out of position to make a hit, that is correct. That is called good defense.

I'm not big on Sanguinetti at all either. He hasn't been impressive to me every time he's gotten a look. He has slow feet & doesn't play w/ the passion i'd like to see from a rookie especially.

He hasn't been playing with Staal, he has been playing with MDZ. He plays with Staal on the PK only and a few shifts a game if the pairings are screwed up.

Staal, Rozsival and Girardi were all over 20 minutes tonight, as they are most nights.

I think the organization views him more valuable than some/many of our fans do, so yea.
