Going to close till game time. Billy D has a pre-game thread going. If I merge the threads we will lose the fine work done by Shane Ye in this thread as threads when merged default to the oldest dated post. Hope this makes sense to all. Will set my alarm to ensure re-opening.

ps. only appropriate anyway, last game of the year we deserve a:

A Pre Game Thread
A Game Day Thread
and a Post Game Thread

Going to be a long summer around here.

Go Leafs Go

PS. If Shane Ye, Zeke or anyone else who has stuff to contribute to the GDT, PM Ulf, Mess or myself we can re-open the thread till you add your stuff, then close till game time.

How far do the leafs take tonights game?

Basically my question is if it is tied with 1.5 minutes remaining, should we pull our goalie?

should the leafs be trying to win this game in regulation at all costs?

reasons for:

Owe it to NYR/PHI to try to pull out everything we can
Leafs fanbase wants Montreal eliminated
No penalty for us to lose in regulation

reasons against:

might seem "bush league" to just purposely try to ruin another team's playoff hopes

End of year, we want to win, I want us to win.

An OTL is just as worthless as a regulation loss.

I was thinking about this last night and I say go for it. Seeing as almost every game in this series went to extra time I could see this happening.

You got nothing to lose

Maybe if there's like 30s left, 1.5m seems like a bit too much time to risk, and the play could easily backfire. If the opportunity presented itself though, why not. I'm just a dick like that

Wilson is not pulling the goalie in a tie game. If WE needed to beat Montreal in regulation to make the playoffs then yes, but not if were 29th and a win or loss doesn't do anything to affect our position.

it IS our rivals tho... i dunno he seems like he might be inclined to do that haha i agree it would kind of be a dick move, but we have literally NOTHING to lose and the fanbase wants us to win in regulation

It would be pathetic and an embarrassment to Wilson and the entire organization.

I have no problem with trying to beat them but how sad would it be if Wilson tried this BS move and the Canadiens scored an empty net goal. He won't anyway.

They will go for the win no matter what. If it comes down to pulling the goalie because they are down by 1 goal, they will.

Burke and Sather are friends

Hard to imagine in any situation where Leafs pull the goalie letting Montreal shoot at an empty net to eliminate another team perhaps the NYR from the playoffs.

We are the worst at playing without the goalie. Anybody have any exact stats?? Everytime we've pulled it seems we've gotten an empty-net goal... and not within the last minute. I'm talking minute and a half like some of you guys are mentioning. Wilson doesn't seem to have the patience or something, and the team most certainly doesn't have the composure.

Anyways, how far will we go? Orr will play twenty minutes...
