The cable can go either way due to preference, but I feel that Verizon's internet is wayyyy better.
Cable is FTTN: Fiber to the neighborhood. This means that it's fiber optic to a central point in a neighborhood, but then everyone in that particular neighborhood shares bandwidth via coaxial cable strung to their houses.

Fios is FTTP: Fiber to the premises. They string a brand new fiber optic wire from the telephone pole to your house. You don't share bandwidth.

This is why you see all the Cablevison vs. Fios ads regarding fiber. They all indeed deliver their service through fiber optics, but only one literally brings it right to your house.

My parents house is right outside Princeton, and they get Devils/Rangers/Islanders games there (including MSG2+). If you get the normal Devils games but not those on 2+ you probably just have to look harder, it's not usually listed on the tv guide but it's always on.

hey folks - thought i'd raise this thread from the dead...

i'm moving to a new place next month and i'll now have an option for FIOS, but i'm wary of not being able to get the Devils in HD. has there been any progress on FIOS getting the HD feed?

my google-fu is failing me on this, as i haven't been able to dig up any news on the issue. i assume that FIOS is still shut out, but figured no harm in asking here.

so any updates, please share... thanks

I didn't even know Comcast was available in Monmouth County. I grew up in Manalapan, and our only choice for Cable was Cablevision.

I moved to Jackson in Ocean County 9 years ago, same thing. Only Cablevision.

Not that I'm complaining, I get every game.

That's Central Jersey. And not Flyers Country.

AVOID COMCAST AT ALL COSTS!!!

YOU'RE PAYING THE SALARIES OF THOSE DIRTBAGS CARCILLO & HARTNELL!!!

IT'S A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE FOR THE FLYERS!

I live in monmouth county and FIOS is 1000x better than comcast in every aspect besides the devils in HD. I would go FIOS. the FTTP or FTTH (Fiber to the home, thats what they are teaching me at school) is also a very big plus.

Not true. MSG pays the Devils a substantial amount to air their games.

Also, I still love FiOS.
